Dietary supplements profanation or benefit. Whether dietary supplements benefit and harm should be taken. Differences between dietary supplements and drugs

Dear friends!

I am glad to see you on the pages of the blog, and today I would like to raise a topic that has been haunting me for a long time, and for those whose opinion I was interested in this matter, it causes an absolutely opposite reaction.

Today I propose to talk about what dietary supplements are, the benefits or harm to the body.

I was going to write a post on this topic later, but a comment appeared on the blog that spurred me to write as soon as possible.

For one of the articles, reader Lyudmila wrote the following lines: “And I thought: why, when you are young and with trouble-free health, do you take all these dietary supplements, vitamins, etc.? For prevention? Or to try it out for yourself and recommend to others? Or another purpose? It's time to explain.

I’ll warn you right away - this is just my personal opinion, based on information collected in parts over a long time from the Internet and the press, reviews of acquaintances, related and not related to medicine, the experience of using friends and relatives, and, most importantly, my experience and personal feelings.

But I will also be glad to any of your opinions on the topic "biologically active additives benefit or harm."

I will indicate, on the fingers, what is at stake, that is, what are biologically active additives in my understanding, in order to communicate in detail and specifically.

Biologically active food supplements are natural substances obtained from plant, animal or mineral raw materials. I.e, linseed oil in capsules from a gelatin shell - this is a dietary supplement, herbal tea and balm - too. And boxes with blisters, in which there are “pills” containing part of the periodic table, are vitamins.

So, my pros when taking dietary supplements

  1. Food does not contain required amount microelements, vitamins and others useful substances needed by the body.

Such information is now found at every step, and the number of foods that need to be eaten daily is simply shocking: 2 fruits, 3 vegetables (potatoes are not considered a vegetable), 100 g of meat, 100 g of fish or seafood, 100 g of cottage cheese, 200 ml kefir or milk, etc. etc….

I will not enumerate completely, but, in my opinion, the volumes look intimidating. I have a very slow metabolism, and reading about the amount of food you need to eat daily, I get fed up with just the sight of the list.

My eternal opponent, my mother, an encyclopedia of health recipes, last reported that in order to restore zinc in the body, you need to eat 4 (!) Bananas daily. Naturally, I had a reasonable question: “And what size, after a couple of months of such a diet, will I have ... a waist?”

I cannot get zinc from other products - chocolate, oysters, lamb, wheat germ and pumpkin seeds, for various reasons, I don’t eat something, something is not available. And daily 100 gr. the same seeds contain only 70% of the daily requirement for zinc, as, by the way, daily 100 gr. chocolate.

2. Inability to receive from food some essential vitamins and micronutrients.

I often come across information about the lack of selenium, a powerful antioxidant, in the diet of the inhabitants of Belarus. A much-needed element is missing in our diet for the simple reason that it is found mainly in seafood - in fish, crabs, shrimps, squids, lobsters, etc., and we are not a sea power. In addition, our soil also contains little selenium, so the products growing on it are, accordingly, not rich in selenium.

It is difficult to “eat” selenium with seafood. Even if you are lucky and you love shrimp, then you will have to eat 100 grams of them daily, for someone it is expensive, someone will get bored. Lobsters and lobsters, for obvious reasons, will not be discussed 😉

What remains is fish containing selenium. It is doubtful that the right amount of selenium can be obtained by eating the usual portion - a couple of pieces of fish per week.

We are trying to replace with other products. Options: wheat bran, sprouted wheat grains, corn grains, tomatoes, brewer's yeast, mushrooms and garlic, wholemeal flour products, kidneys (pork, beef), liver, heart, poultry eggs, sunflower seeds, brazil nuts.

Food lists always seem so long, but if you look realistically, which of them can you offer your family to include in their daily diet?

Wheat bran and germinated wheat grains? Sometimes it is a whole problem to acquire them, and even more so to get a husband and children to eat. Kidneys, heart and mushrooms - don't even show the children, products made from wholemeal flour - no one wants to eat, and my husband in particular (that's how I got it 😉).

Remained: garlic, a tasty and mysterious product. The mystery is when to eat it - in the morning, and breathe on colleagues, or after work, and breathe on family?

Tomatoes are great until the season is over, and pink fakes with plastic sheen, proudly called tomatoes, appear on store shelves. I didn’t measure, of course, the level of selenium in them, but I suspect that it’s not just not enough there, it simply isn’t there. Well, what kind of selenium is in plastic?

Brewer's yeast. At first I was delighted, here it is - buns that are practically loved. But everything turned out to be much sadder, yeast should be eaten raw ....

Brazil nuts are being eliminated from the diet due to equating their value with the cost of spiny lobsters.

There are two products left that households will eat without being capricious - these are eggs and seeds.

If you have less capricious households, I can only say one thing - you are lucky.

But even if you are able to drink tea with wholemeal bread, with a thin layer of yeast spread on it, that's still not all. It is advisable to take selenium along with vitamin E, since its deficiency prevents the body from using selenium, even if taken in high doses, with vitamin C. And this is another list of products for daily use ...

3. Almost all negative opinions were expressed by people not related to medicine, all positive opinions were expressed by scientists and people in white coats.

When I tried to find a refutation or confirmation of my opinion on the Internet and in the press, I discovered a curious pattern.

Most doctors and representatives of science did not express their negative attitude to dietary supplements. I asked the opinion of doctors and pharmacists. The result was approximately the same - 90% of medical workers for the use of dietary supplements. (The survey does not claim scientific validity.)

But being interested in the opinion of people who have nothing to do with medicine, the conclusion can be drawn exactly the opposite - 90% believe that taking dietary supplements is not worth it. Perhaps I would have obeyed the opinion of the majority, but the thing is that I did not meet well-founded points of view.

Do you know what is the most common argument?

“If you really want to take care of your health, it’s better to eat more seasonal vegetables and fruits, as well as eat honey and nuts.”

And variations on a theme:

"What for? It is better to boil chicken breasts with pineapple. Delicious!" (taken from the internet).

I love fruits and vegetables, I try to use them whenever possible, but I doubt that they will help alleviate painful conditions with migraines, loss of appetite, an increase in the thyroid gland or allergies.

4. Dietary supplements are regularly taken abroad for the most part population.

And, although “abroad” is not a decree for us, I will give a few figures. According to statistics, about 90% of the population in Japan regularly take dietary supplements, in the USA - 80%, in Europe - 65%, in Russia - 7-15% (not so long ago this figure was 3%). In Japan, at the state level, a program was adopted to restore the health of the nation, which is based on the intake of biologically active additives.

The health-conscious foreigners I met made a lasting impression. The Germans who came to visit my acquaintances, in the opinion of “our host”, used vitamins “just in handfuls”.

I don’t know how it really was, however, a guest from Germany, at 65 years old, felt great and looked no more than 45.

I admit that a person just has a good constitution and his whole life is a continuous holiday, but the fact remains - a good example made a strong impression.

5. Health.

I do not belong to the category of absolutely healthy people (I suspect that this category is scanty), and natural supplements are an opportunity to minimize illness. They contain substances that we lack due to poor ecology, poor quality food and the modern rhythm of life.

I note that I am not talking about the treatment of the disease, here we need a medical way to get rid of the problem, but about making the course of the disease easier and speedy recovery, and also try to completely eliminate the problem.

I don't think it can be done with products.

It is so well known that bananas contain the hormone of joy serotonin, however, being depressed and eating a few bananas, you are unlikely to suddenly become happier, and the world around will be painted with colorful colors.

I have a post about strengthening capillaries, where I wrote about which I periodically drink. As a “grocery” alternative, to strengthen blood vessels they offer: avocado, broccoli, cereals, pomegranate, grapefruit, green tea and asparagus. To be honest, I couldn’t choose products for daily use, some I don’t like, some lower blood pressure, and some you just won’t eat every day.

6. Beauty.

A very important point. Where can I get calcium to replenish it in the body after pregnancy and childbirth?

I also know that in cottage cheese, cheese, and indeed in dairy products. But the six-year experiment did not help. When using 100-150 gr. cottage cheese in the morning, terribly exfoliating nails, began to exfoliate not so terribly. And I began to worry that, in the end, I would hate dairy products, eating them in such quantities.

True, finding good calcium-containing preparations was not an easy task. Only in recent times I found the supplement that suits me the most. Although cottage cheese, cheese and milk continue to be introduced into the diet constantly.

What about hair and skin in need of support?

Do antioxidants slow down the aging process?

What about supplements that help regulate metabolism?

I really need all this, but I can’t endlessly buy “special” products and cook dishes, practically for myself alone, because no one will eat celery instead of boiled potatoes. Well, and as I said above, I simply cannot eat such a quantity of food every day.

7. Laziness is the engine of progress 😉

Another reason for love for dietary supplements, which I honestly admit, is “ordinary laziness”. All that is enough for me is to brew herbs for gargling when I have a sore throat.

There were, however, several more experiments on conscientious brewing and taking hops and a string for a month for treatment. The experiments were a failure. Hops did not have the proper results, and with just the mere memory of a series, my cheekbones are now reduced :)

And peeling the egg shells from the inner film, and then grinding it turned out to be terrible. Yes, and eat them later, it turned out to be another task.

Update from 07/06/2015: if you, like me, are worried about seasonal allergies, then read the article about the method using harmless biological additives, I have already tried this method on myself, though so far only once)), and I was very pleased with the result.

Therefore, I no longer get anything by “overwork”, but spend this time choosing stores specializing in dietary supplements and vitamins, and reading articles on what and for what diseases it is better to take.

My cons

You will not believe, but I did not find a single firm "against". I even consulted the Internet, but all the proposed options were very conditional, it is quite possible to fight them. Look here:

  1. Dietary supplements are often counterfeited.

Therefore, in no case do we buy them "by hand" from distributors, and through unknown stores. The manufacturer and distributor must be experienced and reputable. Such exist.

2. Risk of overdose.

We carefully and carefully study in what quantities and when to take supplements and vitamins, and then we also carefully study the information on the package.

3. Dietary supplements may be incompatible with each other and drugs.

We do not treat all diseases at once, and very carefully we begin to take a new drug.

4. Ingredients in supplements may have side effects.

Side effects occur as well as on herbs and products. If I know that I can’t have chocolate, I don’t eat it; if I have an allergy, I don’t take it.

5. Insufficient knowledge of their action.

And, consequently, the existence of dietary supplements with unconfirmed effectiveness.

Don't experiment with new unexplored supplements.

6. The biggest disadvantage is an unscrupulous manufacturer.

Which may not indicate the content of a large number of trace elements, salts, vitamins or any other harmful substances.

But he may not exactly indicate where the herbs he sells are collected and how many pesticides the corn he offers contains.

Therefore b about I buy most of the dietary supplements and vitamins at the iHerb online pharmacy, which I trust because of my many years of shopping experience and a lot of really high-quality products.

Bottom line - I'm for dietary supplements, but with a caveat.

No matter how much supplements are taken, they will not replace a complete balanced diet.

Supplements are not medicines, so we do not expect to get rid of diseases with their help.

There are contraindications for taking them, so before taking, you need to consult a doctor (I myself consult only on occasion, and I am not an example in this matter).

(Updated 07.10.2016). When I sent this article to the Google + feed, one of the readers dropped a link to a video in which Professor A. Kovalkov expresses his opinion (I think, authoritative for many)) regarding the intake of dietary supplements. Take a look, the video is short, but interesting and quite convincing.

I wish everyone health and beauty that does not depend on taking medications and dietary supplements 🙂

Traditional medicine or natural medicine?

Treatment or money down the drain?

Unfortunately, the 21st century is a time of environmental disasters, climate change, a sedentary lifestyle, fast food and, as a result, an era of disease and a huge consumption of drugs.

Do you have health problems?

Let's turn to official statistics published World Health Organization (WHO). In Russia:

One in three die from cardiovascular disease.

One cancer diagnosis is made every minute.

    Every tenth suffers from diabetes.

    Every seventh family is barren.

The number of absolutely healthy children does not exceed 10%.

According to WHO, Russia ranks 127th in the world in terms of population health and 130th in the efficiency of the medical system (similar indicators are in African countries).

However, the media continues to convince us that the official medical system is the only correct path to health, and the use of dietary supplements (BAA) is a waste of money.

Is it really? Why is this happening?

To answer the question, here is a quote from Wikipedia: “The Russian pharmaceutical market is one of the fastest growing in the world. In 2008, sales on it amounted to about 360 billion rubles. The Russian pharmaceutical industry provides about 70% of Russian healthcare.”

In addition, let's pay attention to Top 10 pharmaceutical companies by profit for 2013:

  1. Johnson & Johnson (Johnson & Johnson) - $71.312 billion
  2. Novartis - $57.920 billion
  3. Roche - $52.307 billion
  4. Pfizer - $51.584 billion
  5. Sanofi - $45.078 billion
  6. GlaxoSmithKline - $44.146 billion
  7. Merck (Merck & Co.) - $44.033 billion
  8. Bayer HealthCare - $25.969 billion
  9. AstraZeneca - $25.711 billion
  10. Eli Lilly - $23.113 billion

World-class scientists do not hesitate to argue that, despite numerous studies, advanced developments and a large number of discoveries, man - still remains a mystery to science, its structure and internal connections are still too complex to "read" human body like an open book. So why is everything so simple on TV screens? Or, unfortunately, everything is tritely simple and yet there are those who “order the music”?

What decision to make?

Go to the clinic for the next - second, third, fifth appointment - or try to find an alternative approach?

To make a choice, let's see

what do we get after going to the clinic.

This is how the “medical boiler” is arranged, that you can “boil” in it for quite a long time. At the first signs of the disease - the immediate appointment of antibiotics, with an exacerbation - a double dose. Do you recognize yourself or someone you know? Although it is no secret to anyone that antibiotics do not leave the best residue in the body, these are:

    violation of the intestinal flora and, as a result, dysbacteriosis and allergies;

    weakening of the immune system in general;

    candidiasis (fungal infections);

    dysfunction of the kidneys and liver;

And this is not all the side effects of antibiotics ...

It turns out that in the baggage to the main problem we get a dozen minor ones. Not a very happy prospect, is it?

What happens on the path of treatment with biological supplements?

The average life expectancy in the world is 70 years old.

Japan. The country, which has repeatedly experienced a nuclear catastrophe, has the highest life expectancy of the population - 82 years. 90% of the country's inhabitants use dietary supplements.

America. It is famous for its fast food, cola and hamburgers. The average life expectancy is 78 years. 80% of residents use dietary supplements.

AT Germany life expectancy - 79 years. 65% of the population regularly use dietary supplements.

AT Russia average life expectancy is 66 years (according to this indicator, we rank 113th in the world), and only 5% of the population use dietary supplements.

These statistics and numerous studies allow us to conclude that the culture of consumption food additives has a positive effect on the increase in life expectancy.

Say you've never used dietary supplements?

Maybe you just call them differently?

For example, cosmetic companies, in parallel with their products, offer vitamin and mineral complexes to preserve youth and beauty, which are also, in fact, dietary supplements.

Do you visit a fitness club? Popular sports nutrition is a biologically active substance - dietary supplement.

And, perhaps, each of us bought himself vitamins to boost immunity, which, in fact, are also dietary supplements.

It seems that additives have recently appeared in our everyday life, but in fact, their history is already quite long.

1958- the launch of the first artificial satellite of the Earth marked the beginning of a new era - the space age of mankind. Leading scientists of the world understood that the time of human spaceflight was not far off. During this period began scientific developments and research in the field of space nutrition and bioactive drugs that can support and protect the body in conditions of physical and psychological overload.

A group of scientists from the Institute Sechenov was headed by a young doctor of medical sciences Vladimir Spiridonovich Gigauri.

By the end of the 80s, the group of Academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences Gigauri V.S. had ready-made technological developments of biologically active complexes capable of blocking and curing hundreds of pathologies of the human body at the cellular and molecular levels.

The question arises: Do biological additives really have such a strong effect on our body and quality of life?

Are dietary supplements as effective as they are said to be?

Why have dietary supplements gained such popularity?

Why do patients move away from drugs and prefer natural biological supplements?

Why do doctors NEVER prescribe dietary supplements to their patients if their effectiveness is clinically proven?

To begin with, let's figure out what dietary supplements are and what they are eaten with?

Dietary supplements are concentrates of natural substances isolated from food raw materials of animal, mineral, plant origin, or substances obtained by synthesis, identical to natural analogues. The main difference from medicines is that dietary supplements help the body to self-adjust and eliminate disorders that lead to the development of a particular disease.

And yet, due to what biological additives have a large and undeniable spectrum of action?

Since dietary supplements are natural preparations (that is, created entirely from natural and environmentally friendly raw materials using modern technologies), then they have a beneficial effect on the human body and do not inhibit the course of its physiological processes.

Dietary supplements do not work instead of the regulatory systems of the body, but eliminate the deficiency or excess of any compounds in the human body.

They are fully able to be absorbed by the body without causing damage to it: without loading it with ballast or toxic compounds and without causing allergic reactions.

So, do our bodies need dietary supplements, or not?

Often patients are mistaken in thinking that their complete diet saturates the body with all the necessary elements. Is it really?

The accumulated international experience shows that it is practically impossible to achieve a correction of the nutrition structure in the traditional way and provide good nutrition using only food. The missing components in the diet from natural sources must be obtained in a concentrated form.

It is to solve this problem that biologically active food supplements were created. Their essence is that appearance they are often similar to pharmaceuticals (tablets, capsules, powders), and in content they are not only sources of nutritionally deficient substances, but also regulators of the functions of organs and systems of the human body, which allows them to prevent and treat diseases.

Why do many consider dietary supplements ineffective,
money for them - wasted, and yourself - deceived?

The "black" glory of dietary supplements arose because of unscrupulous distributors and their thirst for profit, or simply because of their illiteracy.

The fact is that one can of a product, no matter how wonderful it may be, is often simply not able to give the result that you were promised, since a competent, systematic approach is needed to solve any problem. Agree, if people have been eating improperly for years, lead an unhealthy lifestyle, have bad habits, then how can 1 product instantly solve this problem?!

The battle for organic. Dietary supplements against pharmacy inhabitants.

Let's spend comparative analysis among dietary supplements and conventional pharmaceutical drugs, because it is pharmacological preparations that are used to being treated by the majority of the population.

We bring to your attention an interesting table that will answer the most main question- what to choose? (Yes, so as not to regret)

AGAINST

dietary supplement for food

Pharmaceuticals

Specificity

Compensate for the deficiency of natural substances for the body.

At their core, they are foreign substances and this is how they are perceived by the body.

Often they do not have a specific chemical formula, representing a biochemical cocktail, which allows the activation of the necessary ingredient in the right place and at the right time.

Deviations from the given formula are unacceptable and can lead to irreparable consequences. Medicines can only do what they are designed to do.

They have a complex effect on the entire body.

They cause deep natural changes in the body, leading to the normalization of metabolic processes, therefore, they affect the cause of the disease.

They have a selective effect.

They can only solve the problem for which they were created, so their impact is always aimed at eliminating the symptoms of the disease and its consequences.

By their nature, they are able to regulate the widest range of biochemical reactions and physiological functions of the body.

When creating, it is laid
specific, narrowly selective influence. With a deviation from the place of application of exposure, adverse reactions and toxic complications occur.

Production is carried out from
specially grown, environmentally friendly natural raw materials.
Production technologies, in most cases, make it possible to preserve the fundamental principle, i.e. living cell. Fillers are not used, 100% of the active principle is laid in the preparations, which makes it possible to obtain high
the effectiveness of therapeutic and prophylactic effects. Natural filling, like food, is not addictive and
long-term addiction.

Made from synthetic
materials, because any deviation in the formula may lead to undesirable consequences. Most of the drugs in pure form cannot exist and be accepted by a person, as a result of which different kind fillers. As a result of this, the effectiveness of exposure is sharply reduced, and the body receives ballast substances, which often cause allergic reactions. Very often addictive.

Physiological

Health-improving, preventive and therapeutic effects of biologically active food supplements are realized through natural, physiological mechanisms.

In most cases, the therapeutic effect is based on the blocking of certain physiological processes and biochemical reactions. The processes caused by drugs entering the body are not physiological and
characteristic of the life of the organism.

Toxicity of drugs and caused adverse reactions.

An overdose of dietary supplements is almost impossible. The body simply removes what it does not need. this moment time unchanged. The toxicity of biologically active drugs is at the level of environmentally friendly food products. There are practically no side effects, and the individual intolerance that occurs is no more often than the intolerance of certain foods and, therefore, does not threaten with serious consequences.

The effectiveness of the impact on the body largely depends on the dose taken. An overdose is a fairly common phenomenon and, often, threatening with significant complications. The toxicity of many drugs necessitates the combined use of cleansing and restorative agents. They have a significant list of side effects. Tolerability of drugs largely depends on the individual state of the body.

Interaction with other drugs

In most cases, biologically active drugs improve and enhance the beneficial effects of each other. Similarly, they interact with drugs, enhancing their beneficial properties and reducing the negative effects on the body.

The interaction of drugs with each other often leads to a weakening of their therapeutic, therapeutic effect, and sometimes to the occurrence of toxic reactions. Therefore, you can take several drugs at the same time only after consulting a doctor.

The speed of achieving the effect

Often does not give a quick and pronounced result. The effect of their use comes after a while, but has a lasting result and high efficiency. Positive deep processes continue even after the end of taking the drugs.

The result is fast and visible.

However, the price of this effect may be too high due to the occurrence of adverse and toxic reactions. The effectiveness of many drugs stops when you stop taking them. To achieve the same effect next time, as a rule, a much larger dose of the drug is required.

Another important aspect is the value for money. Medicines are often expensive in and of themselves, plus the additional costs of fighting dysbacteriosis, allergies and other problems. As a result, such treatment will cost you many times more than complex treatment with natural food supplements.

Are you surprised? Do not rush, now we will consider in detail the effect of one very famous drug on the human body, so that you can make the right decision for yourself to the end.

Mafiosi marked "farm"

A well-known drug on the pharmacological market, let's call it "drug N", has long established itself in all pharmacy chains as a unique tool in the fight against liver problems. The manufacturer claims that "preparation N" has a normalizing effect on the metabolism of lipids, proteins and on the detoxification function of the liver; restores and preserves the cellular structure of the liver and phospholipid-dependent enzyme systems, inhibits the formation of connective tissue in the liver.

Medicinal "preparation N" contains in 1 capsule: 300 mg of phosphatidylcholine from soybeans. In addition, the capsule includes excipients:

    ethanol (!!!) (96%),

    solid fat (!),

    Castor oil,

    soybean oil,

vitamin E and some other substances.

The composition of the capsule itself includes:

    gelatin,

    purified water,

    titanium dioxide (!) (E171),

iron dye yellow oxide (!) (E172),

iron dye black oxide (!) (E172),

iron dye red oxide (!) (E172),

    sodium lauryl sulfate (!) ...

The package contains from 30 to 100 capsules. average price varies depending on the number of capsules in the package and ranges from 400 to 1800 rubles.

Thus, “preparation N” contains many additional compounds that can give an additional load both to the liver itself (which they “treat”), and to other organs. In some liver diseases, products such as oils, fats and ethyl alcohol (ethanol) are strictly prohibited, but they are present in the preparation. Even if these compounds are contained in small amounts and even technologically justified, these are still undesirable components in a drug aimed at treating and restoring liver functions. This means that it is necessary to look for such a production technology that could avoid the introduction of these substances into the final product.

But, surprisingly, the manufacturer is satisfied with his product and the cash flow received from its sale, so the composition of "preparation N" has not been changed for several decades.

Not profitable, expensive, and who needs it?

A very similar picture emerges around almost all drugs. This is a whole system of marketing and sales, in which not only the manufacturer participates, but, unfortunately, pharmacy chains, as well as clinics and doctors who prescribe all these drugs.

Why Doctors NEVER Prescribe Supplements to Their Patients
if their effectiveness is clinically proven?

We will reveal to you the secret of medical ethics: a doctor cannot prescribe any drug that is not included in the "List of drugs of vital and essential drugs for medical use". And, despite the fact that the specialist took the Hippocratic oath, he works "according to the charter", for deviations from which, he can simply be fired. It turns out that often the doctor can and wants to help you, but, unfortunately, cannot ...

If you have already thought about an alternative path, then you will probably have questions:

How to understand the market of abundance of offers?

If you are going to take Dietary supplements, then you, first of all, need to understand that Dietary supplements are not a medicine and cannot serve as a remedy for treatment. various diseases, as well as the fact that in some cases dietary supplements can harm your health.

WHAT ARE SUPPLEMENTS DANGEROUS AND HARMFUL

Dietary supplement - This is a dietary supplement that is absolutely not needed for a person to conduct normal life. For normal development, the human body needs fats, carbohydrates and proteins, as well as various vitamins that enter the human body with food with a good diet, or are supplemented by taking special multivitamins. Thus, we see that Bad is absolutely not needed by the human body. We recommend that you read

So, why is Bud dangerous and why is it needed? Bad is a product that is obtained by a rather laborious process by extracting substances from various products. This means that one orange, or several cherries, etc. were stuffed into one tablet of Bud, but the cost of such a tablet is 100 times more expensive than the same orange or blueberries, or another product. The analysis carried out at the scientific institute showed that taking dietary supplements is completely useless, since a person receives everything for his life and activity from food or a vitamin complex. Excessively taken drugs (dietary supplements) are excreted from the body as unnecessary substances, hence the first financial harm is obtained.

COST: The main danger of Bud is its cost, i.e. you pay a lot of money for what your body does not require or for what you can get from ordinary cheap fruits and vegetables. Only here you will get fresh substances from fruits and vegetables, and processed ones from dietary supplements, and it is far from a controversial question what is better than fresh ingredients or chemically processed ones.

FAKE: Given the high cost of dietary supplements and the fact that they are practically not controlled by anyone, there are a large number of fakes. Those. having bought a dietary supplement for a high price, you can take not an extract from products, which is quite laborious, but ordinary chalk or vitamin C, or something else. And perhaps you will take poisons that will be dangerous for your body and can be harmful to health. We recommend that you read

LOW QUALITY: Considering that dietary supplement is not a medicine, then anyone can produce and make it, and no research is required on the safety and effectiveness of the resulting drug. This leads to the fact that dietary supplements sometimes do not have any documents, and they are produced without observing the necessary pharmaceutical requirements, which leads to cheaper production and low product quality. Those. you buy Bydy for a lot of money, but you get a minimum effect, or even, you don’t get it at all.

NOT EFFICIENT: One of the biggest drawbacks to the danger of dietary supplements is their inefficiency. It turns out that a person falls ill and, for the treatment of the disease, begins to use dietary supplements, which he heard about in advertising, as a wonderful remedy for getting rid of diseases, and as a result, the body does not receive the necessary drugs to fight the disease, and the disease begins to progress, which can lead to serious consequences and even death. Dietary supplements are also dangerous because they do not cure diseases in any way, and they are harmful because they are not a medicine that cures diseases, but are only an extract from food that you can get by eating tasty and healthy fresh fruits and vegetables. Think, after all, you do not treat diseases with food, because food is not medicine, the same is with dietary supplements. We recommend that you familiarize yourself

PSYCHOLOGICAL DEPENDENCE: The danger of dietary supplements lies in the fact that many people are susceptible to suggestion and self-hypnosis, listening to or watching advertising, they begin to believe in a miracle cure for all diseases by the advertised product (Bad). Such people fall into psychological dependence, spend a lot of money on the purchase of dietary supplements and, at times, take them in large quantities, which can also be harmful to health. Indeed, dietary supplements usually contain dyes, flavors, preservatives and other chemical elements that adversely affect the kidneys and liver. And most importantly, these people are trying to treat diseases with something that is not intended for treatment and is not a medicine, this is a dietary supplement!

Biologically active additives (BAA) have entered our lives so thoroughly in recent decades that it seems impossible to find a person who has not tried them at least once. But most of our compatriots have a vague idea of what dietary supplements consist of, how they work and how they differ from real drugs. Let's try to understand these issues, and at the same time understand how necessary such supplements are.

The history of the appearance of dietary supplements, their composition and purpose

Already in ancient times, people knew that extracts from certain plants, powders from minerals and dried parts of animal bodies have a positive effect on the body (relieve fatigue, increase mood and vitality, eliminate symptoms of diseases, etc.). The first medicines were mixtures, sometimes quite complex, of extracts and extracts of this kind. They were used for therapy before the advent of synthetic drugs. At the end of the 19th century, the world again “turned its face” to drugs of natural origin, mainly for the purpose of general health improvement, life extension and getting rid of the consequences of existence in a developed industrial society (obesity, depression, neurosis, etc.).

The authors of the first dietary supplements were enthusiasts who turned to the experience of Eastern healers and tested the effect of the selected substances on themselves. They created drugs of a general tonic nature and distributed them among their loved ones (at first, even for nothing). A real boom happened in the second half of the twentieth century, when supplements were invented that allegedly helped to lose weight, diverging according to the system " network marketing". At the end of the 1990s, the passion for dietary supplements reached Russia and became widespread, which was facilitated by aggressive advertising and a rather high level of distrust in official medicine. Today, our pharmacies and stores offer hundreds of supplements, most of which, at a very high price, can not only be useless, but also harmful to health.

Dietary supplements consist of extracts of plant, animal or mineral origin and are designed to optimize the amount of vitamins, microelements and some other components necessary for normal life. According to experts, with a balanced diet, a person should consume more than 600 different substances daily. It is clear that many simply cannot afford a diet that meets such requirements. And it makes sense to get some of the ingredients in a concentrated form from drugs that are properly manufactured, safe and affordable. Ideally, this role should be performed by dietary supplements.

Why eating dietary supplements can be dangerous

If the composition of the dietary supplement fully complies with the one stated on the package, the drug is produced in compliance with all technological and sanitary and hygienic requirements, the rules for its storage and sale have not been violated, and the need for these particular substances for a particular person has been precisely established, the dietary supplement will undoubtedly bring real benefits. The trouble is that the fulfillment of all these conditions is the exception rather than the rule. In reality, dietary supplements do more harm than good. The main reasons are as follows:

  • The requirements imposed by the state on biologically active additives are much softer than on drugs. Dietary supplements do not have to undergo clinical trials, their quality and composition are simply declared by the manufacturer. This means that the company that produces the additive makes a statement about what the product consists of and how it works, and the conformity of these statements with reality remains on its conscience;
  • in medical programs educational institutions training courses on the specifics of the use of dietary supplements are officially absent. It turns out that not only consumers of supplements, but also doctors do not have sufficient knowledge about the effect of such products on the human body, its compatibility with drugs, side effect and other important nuances;
  • biologically active additives are very often sold by organizations and individuals who do not have any right to such activities;
  • advertising of dietary supplements in most cases does not correspond to their real qualities, it is unfair and incorrect;
  • a significant part of the additives offered on the market are made from low-quality raw materials or contain components hazardous to health.

Natural dietary supplements, or dietary supplements, were invented in order to compensate for the body's needs for vitamins and trace elements.

Dietary supplements cannot replace good nutrition

They are also unable to cure or prevent disease. And unreasonable intake of them in large doses can do harm to the body. What are dietary supplements, how are they useful and harmful?

Food, drug or vitamin?

Not being drugs, dietary supplements are an intermediate link between them and food. The official wording defines them as a combination of natural (or identical) active substances intended to be taken with food or incorporated into food products.

What is the difference between dietary supplements and drugs?

By developing a drug, pharmacists partially "delegate" to him some of the "duties" of the cells of the body. Most drugs are synthesized chemically. The order and duration of taking medicines are quite strictly regulated.

Dietary supplements are a "cocktail", all the ingredients of which are predominantly of natural origin.

The regulation of physiological functions and biochemical reactions of dietary supplements is carried out by eliminating the deficiency of one or another nutrient.

You will learn all the details about how dietary supplements differ from drugs from the video:

An important difference between them and medicines is the order of appointment. Many drugs in a short period of time remove the manifestations of an existing disease. Long-term use of dietary supplements helps to "delay" possible diseases practically healthy people.

What is the difference between dietary supplements and vitamins?

If we talk about artificially synthesized vitamin-mineral complexes (VMCs), then, being medicines, they contain therapeutic doses of active substances, which, entering the body with food, play the role of "catalysts" that stimulate biological processes that support vital energy.

In dietary supplements, active substances are present in doses that do not provide a therapeutic effect.

In addition, additives are not only VMK, but also liquid concentrates, instant teas, protein shakes and isolates.

What are they needed for?

Before answering the question, dietary supplements are good or bad, we note the main purpose of their appointment - to balance the diet.

Judge for yourself: modern Agriculture, despite the depletion of the soil, gives a good harvest, which is provided, to a greater extent, by numerous "top dressings". Depleted soil does not have time to "give" the remnants of mineral and other substances to early ripening fruits. The same applies to cattle breeding with the use of numerous animal feed. The result is that the population is deficient in most nutrients. And the benefit of dietary supplements is the ability to eliminate this deficiency.

Subtleties of classification

Depending on the direction of action, the Institute of Nutrition of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences divided dietary supplements into:

  • Nutraceuticals. Recommended for persons without diseases and people with chronic ailments as sources of micro- and macroelements, amino acids and proteins, fats, carbohydrates;
  • Parapharmaceutics. Complement drug therapy, support the functionality of individual organs and their systems, affect metabolic processes;
  • Eubiotics or probiotics- sources of living microorganisms useful for maintaining the activity of the gastrointestinal tract.

How does it work?

Supplementing food, the preparations of each of this groups ensure the improvement of individual systems or the whole organism.

Are dietary supplements harmful to health?

Despite the many advantages associated with saturating the body with nutrients, dietary supplements have their drawbacks. They are subject to certification, which means only the absence of harmful substances. But with unskilled selection, components of additives that are harmless at first glance can do harm.

So, mint-based preparations threaten a miscarriage in a pregnant woman.
Ephedra herb extract, which is often present in dietary supplements for weight loss, is similar in composition to narcotic substances - it is dangerous for hypertensive patients and people with cardiovascular ailments.

Some dietary supplements for weight loss can cause problems with the heart and blood vessels

Taking certain drugs based on herbs with an estrogen-like effect (licorice, red clover) can introduce an imbalance in the hormonal background.

Are dietary supplements with vitamin-mineral complexes harmful?

What such dietary supplements will bring to the body - harm or benefit - depends on the measure. Immoderate doses of drugs with a high content of fat-soluble vitamins (A, E, D and K) inevitably leads to their excessive deposition in the liver.

An excess of, for example, beta-carotene, under the influence of cigarette smoke, triggers oxidative processes, the consequences of which can be compared with the detrimental effect of two packs of cigarettes smoked a day!

And uncontrollably swallowing "water-soluble" ascorbic acid, instead of increasing immunity, you can get kidney disease.

The main thing that is worth remembering for those who decide to make dietary supplements a component of a healthy lifestyle is that their harm or benefit directly depends on the reliability of the manufacturer. Back in August 2013, Rospotrebnadzor banned the sale of several dozen food additives. Therefore, in order not to fall for the bait of the manufacturers of "pacifiers", visit the official website Federal Service on supervision in the field of consumer protection and human well-being and study the register of dietary supplements that have passed state registration.

When a person is going to improve his health with the help of dietary supplements, it can be difficult to dissuade him. As a rule, such a decision is accompanied by disappointment in the official medical treatment, fear of surgery and, in general, a difficult state of mind. However, some caution can be exercised even in such a situation. Before purchasing a very expensive drug, it must be taken into account that dietary supplements can never, under any circumstances, be used as medicines. Anyone who claims otherwise is breaking the law (even if it's a medical practitioner). In addition, there is simply no reliable information about the effect of most dietary supplements on the human body. Therefore, the recommendations of people who allegedly experienced a “miraculous” remedy are not credible: what “helped” them can harm you. In any case, it is better to find a conscientious doctor for the same money and follow his recommendations than to add the effect of an unexplored drug to your ailment.

Be healthy, and if you get sick - be treated competently!

Only in this case, the biologically active substances that enter the body with food will act effectively, quickly eliminating existing problems.

The difference between dietary supplements and medicines

In order not to face unpleasant surprises when purchasing supplements of this type, you need to understand what is their main difference from drugs. Medicines are designed to eliminate the main symptoms of the disease that has developed. Dietary supplements are needed for the formation of enzymes and other biologically active substances, and not for the elimination of diseases.

The main difference between biological additives and medicines is their mechanism and principle of operation. Medicines of medical origin perform functions that are associated with the cells of the body. Biologically active additives restore the functioning of the main systems of internal organs.

The difference between dietary supplements and drugs is that you can take supplements for life without worrying about your health. In the case of drugs, overdose can be encountered, which leads to allergic reactions and food poisoning.

The difference between dietary supplements and medicines

But what is the difference between bad and medicinal product by composition. Medicines are substances that are chemically synthesized. They are prepared according to the developed formulas. As part of biologically active additives, there is a healing mixture, the basis of which is natural ingredients. That is why people very rarely have an allergy to such drugs.

The main criteria for distinguishing dietary supplements from drugs are the prescription of the drug. Dietary supplements are best taken if you are healthy, as they make it possible to resist various diseases. Medicines are taken only if a person has already encountered a specific disease. Do not self-medicate, as medications can become dangerous to your health.

  • period breastfeeding– the main substances of drugs can get into breast milk what causes the development of allergies in the baby;
  • the presence of malignant tumors - additives can accelerate the growth of tumors, which will lead to a sharp deterioration in human health.

If you decide to use dietary supplements, please consult your doctor. He will select for you the optimal course of taking the drug and its dosage.

bioadditives

This article is useful for both consumers of dietary supplements and distributors. I will describe the medical side of the issue and the economic side. The topic of dietary supplements is now very relevant. There are many opinions and they are all different. It is difficult for people to understand what is true and what is false. I do not deal with dietary supplements, but due to the specifics of my work I often come across them. I have no motivation to spoil the reputation of dietary supplements or promote them. I'll try to be as objective as possible.

Now it is difficult to meet a person who has not heard about dietary supplements. This industry is currently developing quite dynamically. Distribution networks are springing up like mushrooms after the rain.

First of all, we are interested in the medical side of the issue. Do dietary supplements really help or are they not effective? Maybe dietary supplements are bad?

At one time, I checked a large number of dietary supplements using the Voll device. Moreover, dietary supplements from several companies. We are talking about dietary supplements: NSP, Argo, Edelstar. In order for you to better understand what is at stake, I will tell you how you can check the effectiveness of dietary supplements using the methods of electropuncture (EAF) diagnostics.
Briefly about EAF diagnostics: it is a method based on the measurement electrical resistance a small patch of skin that is part of one of the energy meridians. For example, in order to select a drug that improves kidney function, I, as a diagnostician, must first measure the readings of the points characterizing the state of the kidneys, and then put the drug into the device and take measurements again. If measurements with the drug showed a value closer to normal, then the drug is useful. Many of my EAF diagnostic colleagues, unfortunately, do not know about such a concept as “measurement plateau” and due to this, a lot of errors arise. Especially when there is a selection of the drug. In order to accurately measure the readings, you need to fill your hand and feel the force of pressing the point well. A bit passed or underpressed and the testimony is no longer correct. Often, the unfortunate diagnostician is financially interested in selling dietary supplements to the patient, so the pressure is shifted towards material interest and, lo and behold, the arrow of the device shows an improvement.
I have tested a large number of dietary supplements on many people with different ailments. And I did not notice a significant improvement in the indications from these drugs. Approximately 10% of the tested dietary supplements gave barely noticeable improvements in performance. It's about "clinical" trials.
Now consider the reviews of people about dietary supplements. AT this case it is advisable to divide people into those who:
1. Uses dietary supplements and makes money from it
2. Just uses dietary supplements, without going into the economic part of the issue

Among the first category of “successes” there are much more. And this is not surprising, because there are burning eyes, faith in the manufacturing company and, of course, monetary motivation. Even if these people have obvious health improvements after taking supplements, the effect of the placebo effect is large. Faith can do a lot to a person. Frankly, among the distributors there are individuals who look pretty good and, looking at them, you can even believe in the effectiveness of dietary supplements. But, sometimes there are very curious facts. For example:

A person who takes dietary supplements tells me about the miracle cure of his back with dietary supplements. I check my back - indeed, it is in a much better condition than that of 90% of people of this age. I ask: - What did you take? They tell me: - BAA containing calcium (I don't remember what it's called). I look then the annotation to this preparation. There, apart from calcium and some other mineral, there is nothing else. The question arises. What's with the calcium? The condition of the spine is largely dependent on the condition of the intervertebral discs, which are, in fact, cartilage and consist mainly of collagen. With the same success it would be possible to recover calcium gluconate.

In this case, the placebo effect is indeed a powerful healing factor. Yes, and lifestyle consultants adjust. They can't look bad. How will they then sell their dietary supplements. Those. they have a clear purpose. Look and be healthy in order to set an example for others. This creates a powerful psychological background, including for healing. Believe me, our brain is capable of much.

Those who simply consume dietary supplements are deprived of burning eyes, puppy delight and the placebo effect no longer works like that. In the end, we have the pure functionality of the drug, and, alas, it leaves much to be desired. According to simple consumer reviews, the effect, as a rule, is almost not noticeable. Only 10-15% of people can boast of a positive effect from dietary supplements.

Often I argued with dietary supplement traders about the effectiveness of the latter. For example, I argued “Why don’t patients drink herbs instead of dietary supplements?”. After all, herbs are much cheaper and have been tested for thousands of years by our ancestors. In response, I was bombarded with statements that dietary supplements are produced using modern technologies that allow preserving all the usefulness of natural components. Who is right in this dispute? Let's discuss.

You probably bought apples in stores and markets. Tell me, which apples are tastier, those that are bought from grandmothers in the market (with worms, a little “crooked”), or those that are in supermarkets in calibrated cells of boxes, shiny and perfectly shaped? If you are not a fool, you will buy apples from your grandmother in the market. Because these apples are real, grown in natural conditions. And those in the supermarket taste more like styrofoam. What am I talking about? Moreover, dietary supplement manufacturing companies grow raw materials on an industrial scale, in monoculture conditions and artificial feeding with chemicals. And don't shout about ISO. Because ISO and standards are written for suckers, and there is no problem adjusting these standards for yourself. Especially if we are talking about big profits. St. John's wort grown in the forest cannot be compared in quality with St. John's wort grown on an industrial scale. medicinal herb it's not just a set of chemicals. It is also a special energy.

Physicians, pharmacists and adherents of dietary supplements throw stones at each other. They constantly shit on each other at the first opportunity. If you see this, you know that the market is being divided. Do not pay attention to these squabbles, you will not find truth in this. These are wars for the right to cheat suckers.

Since I mentioned pharmacology, it is worth recalling such a phenomenon as VITAMINS. Do you still buy vitamins in packs? Then know that all these pseudoscientific theories about the alleged lack of certain substances in the body are a GLOBAL SCAM. The invention of cunning pharmacists. The vitamin market is in the tens of billions of dollars. In order to spur all this on, stupid suckers are slipped on a zomboyaschik and in journals of the theory of “British scientists”. Who are the same scientists as I am an opera singer. For money you can buy any scientist with giblets. These are the same venal skins as many others. All these vitamins are not only not absorbed by the body, but rather slagging it. The body is able to process only natural products. Why am I, a vegetarian with four years of experience, still living and prospering, although according to the theory of “British scientists” I should have died from a lack of certain “amino acids that are not produced by the body”. And my acquaintances are raw foodists who eat a couple of leaves a day, a saucer of germinated grain and a couple of nuts. They are perfectly healthy and full of energy people. Why didn't they die of vitamin deficiency? And what about "sunflowers"? If you take vitamins, why are you sick? Think carefully about these questions.

I've said a lot here. But you are interested in a specific question. Can I take dietary supplements or not? Here is your answer. If you have a lot of extra money, then you can. You are unlikely to harm them, but the benefit .... well, who knows. It is quite possible that there will still be some benefit from them. If you are tight with money, run away from consultants before they leave you without pants. In any case, dietary supplements are more useful than pharmacological chemistry. This is absolutely accurate.

I would like to draw your attention to this. "British scientists" and other scammers have taught you to think about your health only through the stomach. “What would you eat to become healthy?” - you think, and go to the pharmacy or to the consultant. It's not worth thinking like that. For with such thinking you will never be healthy. Food is only 10-20% of your health. The rest is emotions, worldview, upbringing, the condition of the spine, ligaments and muscles. Therefore, even the most effective and magical dietary supplements are only a small fraction of your health.

And now I would like to turn to consultants who sell dietary supplements or those who are thinking of becoming them.

Any MLM structure is aimed at its expansion and at using the energy of its adherents. Each structure has its own marketing plan. There are structures with rigid, sweatshop marketing plans. There are frankly swindling, and there are more or less "balanced". If a recruiter talks to you with puppy enthusiasm about what mountains of gold await you, about how you will achieve financial independence and how you can buy a villa, hang your legs on a deck chair and earn money without doing anything, send him to hell. Just look at this recruiter, he is like a squirrel in a wheel with his tongue hanging out on his side, running around and brainwashing people like you. Is this a success? No. Any MLM structure builds its plan in such a way as to squeeze the maximum energy out of its participants. You, like the donkey from the tale of Hajj Nasredin, will be hung up with a carrot in front of your muzzle, and you will forever chase after this very carrot. Yes, if you actively move the loaves, you will get a couple of bucks. But keep in mind, this is a rather difficult job, which is exhausting no worse than working “for an uncle”. If you stop to rest, then immediately lose your bucks. MLM structure is not interested in you resting. You will not become independent. On the contrary, you will become even more dependent. Some consultants may brag about their successes to you. More often than not, it's the boasting of losers. They will not admit to you that things are not going well for them. This is where the slogan comes into play. “Fucked myself, help others to screw up!”.
