Poltava Military Institute of Communications (abbr. PVIS)- a higher military educational institution that produced signal officers for armed forces USSR and Ukraine. Before 1995 - Poltava Higher Military Command School of Communications.

History of the Institute

On January 11, 1968, Decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR No. 27 was signed, and on January 31, 1968, the corresponding order of the Minister of Defense of the USSR N019 on the establishment of the Military Command School of Communications in Poltava. Colonel Feodosy Petrovich Tkachenko was appointed head of the school.

On July 4, 1970, the Battle Banner was awarded to the school. In August, in 1971, the school was fully formed, the recruitment of the fourth battalion was completed. At this time, Colonel Grishanov Vladimir Fedorovich was appointed head of the school.

In 1972, the first release of signal officers took place.

In January, 1979, the school was relocated to a new military camp along Zenkovskaya Street, 44. The process of mastering the constructed educational building, equipping classrooms with communication equipment, began. The construction of new facilities continues. For the successes achieved in the training of officers, the high level of combat training was named after Marshal of the Soviet Union K.S. Moskalenko.

In March 1988, Colonel Fyodor Sergeevich Kiparis was appointed head of the school.

In 1990-1991, the Poltava Higher Military Command School of Communications named after Marshal of the Soviet Union K.S. Moskalenko was named the best among the military educational institutions of the USSR Ministry of Defense.

Three times meetings of the leadership of the signal troops were held on the basis of the school.

According to the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 517 of July 25, 1995 and the order of the Minister of Defense N243 of September 1, 1995, the school turns into the Poltava branch of the Kiev Military Institute of Management and Communications. In December 1996, the branch was headed by Colonel Cherepov Viktor Ivanovich.

For the successes achieved in the training of signal officers, by decree No. 248, the President of Ukraine L.D. Kuchma awarded Colonel V.I. Cherepov with an honorary distinction “For irreproachable service”, III degree.

On December 16-18, 1997, on the basis of the branch, meetings were held for the leadership of the signalmen of Ukraine, headed by the head of the Main Directorate of Signal Troops, Colonel I.A. Ischuk.

On May 14, 1999, by the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 816 and the order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine No. 240 of August 12, 1999, the branch of the institute was reorganized into the Poltava Military Institute of Communications.

By the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (CMU) No. 800 dated June 6, 2007, on the basis of PVIS, it was reorganized into the Faculty of Military Communications.

Graduated specialties

The institute trains specialists with higher education for signal troops, control bodies of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, interested ministries and departments: - in the direction of training "Telecommunications" in the specialty "System and complexes of military communications"; - in the direction of training "Military science" in the specialty "Combat use and control of the actions of units (units) of the ground forces." Graduates with a four-year term of study receive a diploma of the educational qualification level “bachelor”, and with a five-year term - a diploma of the educational qualification level “specialist” in the direction of training and a diploma “Special officer of the military command and control of the tactical level”.
