Don't get us wrong, but we love these souvenirs so much that we already have 3 of these balloons created within recent years. However, this year we decided to try something new and add a personal touch to our snow globe. It turned out very nice!

Step by step instructions with photo

To make such a snow globe with your own hands, you will need special plastic paper (see photo below), a glass or plastic transparent ball, green spray paint and small decorative Christmas trees. All of these materials can be purchased from craft sites and craft stores. So, are you ready? Then let's do it!

Step 1: Prepare the Christmas Trees

First you need to prepare your Christmas trees.

To do this, use spray paint to paint the trees in a variety of shades of green.

While the trees are still damp, add an iridescent sheen to their tips. It turned out beautiful, didn't it?

Of course, this step is optional and you can use the trees as you bought them.

Step 2: Prepare your photo

To do this, find a beautiful digital photo of your family on your computer and print it on special paper. When you send a photo to print, change the opacity (transparency) of the image to 70%, as the color will intensify when the image is compressed. We printed the image on 15 cm x 20 cm paper and this size fits perfectly.

In the photos below, you can see the difference in saturation and size of the photos before and after shrinkage. Now that all the elements are ready, it's time to paint and assemble your snow globe.

Step 3: collect the ball

Start by painting the round wooden disc for the base of the ball (this step is optional).

When the paint is dry, use hot glue to glue the dried ornamental Christmas trees onto the disk. Attach your photo between the Christmas trees.

Draw a line of superglue along the edge of the ball and place a wooden base on top with glued Christmas trees and a photo. Hold it for about 30 seconds until the glue sets. Then simply flip our snow globe over and let the salt "snow" settle to the bottom.

On the shelves of supermarkets you can find thousands of various New Year's baubles and souvenirs. However, it is not necessary to run for a gift to the store, you can make it yourself.

In this article, we will offer you to make a wonderful souvenir yourself - a ball of snow. It's not at all difficult to make it. For this you will need:

  • the basis for a ball with snow, it can be a purchased special container in the form of a glass ball, and a small beautiful jar (for example, from baby food);
  • distilled water;
  • glycerin (you can buy it at a pharmacy);
  • glue, preferably waterproof;
  • snow flakes or sparkles;
  • small figurines of Christmas trees, animals, snowmen or any other New Year's items. You can also create an original ball with a photo inside, but before placing a photo in a liquid, it must first be laminated.

Now that all the components are ready, let's start creating a New Year's masterpiece.

1. First, make a composition of figures so that it fits on the lid and at the same time passes into the neck of the jar. Then glue it to the lid and let the glue dry.

2. After that, pour glitter into a jar. By the way, in addition to sparkles or snow, other floating objects (beads, stars or snowflakes) can be placed in the future water ball with snow.

3. Then fill the jar with a mixture of glycerin and distilled water, taking into account the volume of the composition. After lowering the figurines into the jar, the liquid in it should reach the edges, as a result, the jar should be completely filled.

5. Now you can decorate the base of the ball (lid) as you wish. For example, wrap with a piece of fabric and tie with a festive ribbon.

Your snow globe is ready, shake it and enjoy the magical spectacle.

Such a homemade ball can become a decoration of your interior or a wonderful souvenir for your guests. Also, making snow balls can be great fun for kids. Collect such a ball with your child, and you will be pleased with the happy shining eyes of the child when he sees the result.

There are many holidays ahead, and you want to somehow surprise your loved ones with unusual gifts. Consider how to make a snow globe with your own hands at home.

With your own hands, with a great desire, you can make a beautiful and stylish New Year's snow globe from a jar with your own hands. In this material, we will give several master classes, after which there will be no more questions about how to make a snow globe without glycerin with your own hands or using glycerin.

Separately, I would like to emphasize the fact that many people think that it is difficult to make a ball with snow inside with their own hands. In fact, there are not only no difficulties, but the whole process of crafts is quite simple and understandable. The presence of glycerin in the composition of the original components should not confuse you. This substance can be bought at any pharmacy without a prescription for a penny, it is not difficult to work with this substance.

Simple and easy

To create such a ball, you will need a jar with a well-twisted lid, that is, the vessel as a result, after closing, must be airtight and not lose this tightness during use. Additionally, to protect against leakage, it is recommended to glue the thread of the finished craft.

As decorations inside the jar, you can use Christmas toys, figures of Santa Claus, Snow Maiden or an angel. Houses and trees look especially beautiful with falling snow. The glue needs to be waterproof, they will need to glue the selected figures to the lid of the jar.

As for snow, without which it is impossible to imagine a New Year's ball with your own hands from a can, then to simulate it, you can simply take artificial snow, sparkles, or even crushed white plastic. Glycerin in this craft is needed so that the snow falls slowly, and not all at once. The more glycerin is diluted in the water, the higher the viscosity of the water will be and the snow will fall more slowly.

Advice! If the snowflakes in your craft are large, then you need to take a large number of glycerin. For a 400 ml jar, 100 ml of glycerin will be enough. But it is recommended to add glycerin slowly and each time check how much this amount of this substance changes precisely the speed of your snow fall.

As for water for crafts, it is best to take distilled water if the ball is given as a gift or if you plan to store it for a long time. Otherwise, just tap water will do, the main thing is that there is no excess sediment in it (for this, water should be additionally defended). Work is recommended to be carried out in disposable gloves.

About how to make a snow globe, the specific assembly process and step by step photos, we discuss later in this article. You need to take about an hour to work, try to do everything according to the instructions, so that the craft turns out beautiful the first time.

I propose to make a version of the snow globe, which you probably saw on the shelves of the store.
A small round glass jar (100-300 ml) is well suited for such a ball. Depending on what kind of holiday you have ahead, you can pick up small figurines or figurines. The figures from under the eggs in Kinder look good. My daughter always selects figures that are repeated for this. And especially for the New Year, you can do it yourself.

An integral part of this craft is glycerin, it will help keep small sequins in the water. You can buy glycerin at a pharmacy.

Well, and, of course, many different sequins or glitter are needed in this work.
Save some time, call your children and start collecting all the elements to make a snow globe.

What is the snow globe "Angel" made of:

- water;
- glycerin;
- a glass jar with a lid;
- glass pebbles for decoration;
- figurine;
- acrylic paint;
- sequins;
- cosmetic glitter;
- glue gun.

How to make a snow globe from a jar

When choosing a figurine for a jar, take one that is clearly visible and occupies at least half of the future ball. In my case, this is an angel, well suited for a gift to a loved one.

When making a snow globe from a jar with your own hands, always use clean water, passed through a filter, mix it with glycerin (in a proportional ratio, the amount of water to glycerin will be 2: 1).
Combine water with glycerin in a container, stir well.

The lid of the jar can be painted with a brush lubricated in acrylic paint if its color does not suit you. Take only acrylic paint, it dries quickly and smears hands. To make the figurine a little higher, you can glue glass pebbles or something else on the lid to help elevate it.

Glue the angel figurine onto the pebbles with a glue gun or other strong glue after drying.

Pour different sequins and glitter into a clean jar, you can also use very small beads.

Pour the liquid into the jar almost to the top, stir the sparkles.

Now take the next step responsibly. Lubricate the neck of the jar with glue, and tighten the lid tightly.

Let the glue dry well for 15-25 minutes, and you can shake and flip your snow globe from the Angel can. You can also decorate the lid, paint it and glue a beautiful fabric.

And together with the children you can do

With a figurine and falling snow inside - a Christmas souvenir known all over the world. It is believed that the French were the first to make such crafts back in the 19th century. Today, on the eve of the New Year holidays, you can buy a similar product in any store, but it is much more interesting to make a snow globe with your own hands.

Preparation of the necessary materials

To make this Christmas craft, you will need: a jar with a lid, any waterproof glue, decorative figurines, glitter or styrofoam, glycerin, water. You can make a snow globe with your own hands from almost any container. Jars from baby food and other food products are excellent for this purpose. Remember, the more interesting the shape of the container, the more original the finished craft will look. Any figurines can be placed inside the jar: factory-made souvenirs, small children's toys, decor can be made independently from polymer clay. Rinse and dry the container well before proceeding with the manufacture of crafts.

Making interior decor

A homemade Christmas snow globe can stand on the lid or bottom of the jar. Decide in advance how you like it best and start decorating the part that will become the bottom.

Option one: glue the selected figures directly onto the lid or bottom. Pour the remaining space around with glue and sprinkle with foam shavings or sparkles. Leave the decor to dry for a while. It is believed that a do-it-yourself snow globe will look most impressive if you install the interior decor on a slight elevation. The easiest way to achieve this effect is using a piece of plasticine. Blind a cake that is suitable in shape and size and glue it to the lid or bottom with glue. Next, install the decorative figures by drowning their base in plasticine, and then mask the base with foam or sparkles.

The magic begins

As soon as the blank with the internal decor dries, you can start filling our container and assembling it. at home? To fill the container, you will need glycerin - you can buy it at a pharmacy. Pour into a jar of distilled water - 2/3 full. Fill the remaining space with glycerin. Don't forget to add sequins, sequins, beads or other small elements that imitate falling snow. If there was nothing suitable at hand, you can make "snowflakes" from finely chopped rain, foil or waterproof confetti.

Sealing and finishing touches

Even if the lid of your jar closes tightly, it will not be out of place to smear it with glue before twisting it. Handle the finished souvenir very carefully. Remember, if the glass snow globe leaks or breaks, you will ruin the textiles or stain the furniture very badly.

Your magical Christmas craft is ready, but you can add a few finishing touches if you wish. Decorate the outside of the lid using foil, wrapping paper, or a pretty fabric. If the top of the souvenir is flat, you can glue a small decorative figure on it.

Is it possible to make a falling snow ball without glycerin?

A popular question among those who decided to make a snow globe for the first time with their own hands is whether it is possible to use ordinary water without additives to make this craft? Actually it's not best idea, since glycerin slows down settling to the bottom and prolongs the “shelf life” of the souvenir. Ordinary water will deteriorate faster, the interior decor may become covered with an unpleasant coating, or the liquid itself will become completely cloudy.

If there is no glycerin at hand, start creative process I want it right now, you can replace it with refined vegetable oil or a very sweet clear syrup. But remember, no matter what product you choose, in any case, after a few months it will go bad. This also applies to glycerin.

It is believed that the smaller the snow globe and the more interesting its shape, the prettier it looks. Whether or not you follow this rule is your own business, but do not use jars larger than 1 liter for this craft.

A souvenir with falling snow can also be made from a plastic container. The main condition is a tight-fitting lid, the transparency of the vessel and the absence of unnecessary edges and ugly seams on its surface. A glass jar is selected according to a similar principle. A container with smooth walls or a small number of edges is best for making this craft. But a complex cut will interfere with viewing a fascinating inner world compositions.

Now you know how to make a snow globe but still wondering what to put inside? Small houses, Christmas trees, snowmen, Santa Claus, figurines of animals or fairy-tale characters - if you create with your child.

Craft with "falling" snow can be not only New Year's. Try to make such a souvenir for March 8 or Valentine's Day. Accordingly, the interior decor should support the theme of the holiday, and only sparkles, multi-colored beads and confetti can fall in such a ball, foam chips are not needed.

One more interesting idea- make a balloon with a postcard or a photo inside. You will need a paper photo or Nice picture suitable size. Tape the blank with transparent tape so that it does not get wet. Next, as always, place the decor inside and mask its base, add glitter and finish the craft by pouring the mortar and sealing the lid tightly.

Snowball- one of the most popular Christmas souvenirs in the world. Inside a glass toy, there are usually some figures - snowmen, small Christmas trees, elegant houses or other traditional characters. It is worth shaking this unpretentious composition, as a fairy tale comes to life: artificial snow or sparkles slowly swirl and gradually settle. Such interesting craft and a memorable gift can be easily made with your own hands and at home.

How to make a snow globe?

To snowball was bright, add sparkles, but not too small. If you are not sure about the quality of the sequins, which may contain gold dust instead of small grains, then you can use ordinary tinsel, which is finely cut with ordinary scissors. You can also use artificial snow or beads.

You will also need:

  • figurine (any suitable size and which does not dissolve in water, you can even laminated a photo or picture),
  • a beautiful jar with a well-closing lid (I used a half-liter, but you can even use baby food jars, the main thing is to find a figure that is suitable in size),
  • universal glue moment,
  • liquid glycerin at least 1/3 of the volume of the jar (the amount also depends on how slowly you want the “snow” to fall, the more glycerin, the slower. The main thing is not to overdo it, otherwise the “snow” will hang in the air all the time ),
  • water (either filtered, or boiled, or distilled. If you take plain tap water, your snow globe will become cloudy over time),
  • glue gun.

If you decorate a jar or make a decorative coaster, like me, additionally prepare:

  • satin ribbons, decorative twigs, flowers, etc. to decorate the jar,
  • cardboard (but not hard),
  • Scotch,
  • scissors,
  • self-adhesive film - gold,
  • PVA glue,
  • dry glitter - gold,
  • fine brush,
  • Well, and, already listed, the adhesive thermal gun.

So let's get started!

Wash the jar, lid, figurine, and any additional decorations well so that the water does not become cloudy over time. I processed everything with boiling water, as for conservation.

We fix all the decorative elements to the lid with hot glue.

I have already used as an imitation of snow: tinsel, sparkles and beads.

I'll tell you how to make a snow globe with sparkles, as there are subtleties here. With tinsel and beads, such problems do not arise.

We take a clean jar, in my case half a liter, pour 150-250 ml of glycerin.

The rest is filled with water (we don’t fill the jar to the edge, because we still have a figurine in there, which will displace a certain amount of water).

Add glitter and mix with a clean spoon.

Even if the sparkles are large, there are particles that did not settle to the bottom of the jar. We must definitely collect them, otherwise they will always float on top, and this, frankly, does not look very good. You can do this with a small spoon or the tip of a clean waffle towel.

Now very carefully, preferably over a plate, we immerse our composition in a jar, twist it a little so that there are no air bubbles anywhere. Screw on the lid tightly. You need to try to close so that there are no air bubbles left in the jar. Since we did not glue the lid inside, if necessary, it will be possible to redo it.

When the lid is screwed on, for insurance, you can walk along the joint from above universal glue(if there is, then it can be waterproof). There have never been problems with such jars, so the glue, in principle, serves only to fix the lid so that no one accidentally opens it.

Our snow globe is ready! Let's decorate it a little to hide all traces of the lid and jar.

From several strips of cardboard, you can make a strong stand, paste over it with a gold self-adhesive film. The diameter is equal to the diameter of the cap. We decorate with all kinds of ribbons, twigs, it all depends on your desire and imagination!

I added a little curlicues of sequins, with their help I hid the carving on the bottom of the jar and all sorts of numbers we didn’t need. To do this, dilute 1: 1 water and PVA glue, generously add dry sparkles to this mixture. Curls painted with a regular thin brush.

And here's what I got!

And with flying sequins ...

This magical gift is sure to please both children and adults. Everyone will be mesmerized by the magic behind the glass. Give each other joy and such wonderful snow globes made by yourself, in which a piece of your soul and warmth is invested!

I was glad to help!
