Guide to steam irons and steam generators. Ironing systems and steamers

Let's be honest - ironing is a real chore and many of us don't like to do it! In fact, research has shown that when it comes to ironing, most people want it over as quickly as possible.

However, a modern steam iron and steam generator come to the rescue, and their combination with -. Modern economy low-pressure steam generators - steamers - also appeared. The range has never been wider and there are many innovations that can help you cut ironing quickly and efficiently.

There are two main types of irons:
Steam irons

The steam iron is the traditional iron most of us are familiar with. Designed for small ironing loads, a steam iron with a water tank that generates constant steam, usually in the amount set by the user (so-called variable steam). A steam iron can also give a short burst of steam to help with tougher creases. The steam iron is a part of the ironing system.

High pressure steam generator
They produce steam of high temperature and pressure - thereby allowing the steam to penetrate deeper into the fibers of clothing. Usually installed on ironing systems.

An iron with a ceramic soleplate will have a smooth glide and the highest scratch resistance. Some irons may also have an anodized finish for even better scratch resistance. Stainless steels are also quite smooth, but less durable than ceramic ones. Cheap irons may have aluminum or other "non-stick" linings. Professional irons with a steam generator usually have a polished soleplate with a labyrinth inside to heat the steam.

Continuous steam
This is measured in grams per minute. Continuous steam release relaxes fabrics for easy crease removal. Higher constant steam output, shorter ironing time. The steam generator is capable of producing a much higher constant steam output compared to a traditional steam iron.

Steam Shot
It is also measured in grams per minute. In short, a powerful burst of steam that penetrates deep into fabrics to remove the toughest creases in the toughest fibres. Higher explosion rates will naturally increase productivity

Vertical steam
Allows you to iron items such as suits and jackets, as well as curtains and blinds, without removing them. Modern ironing systems and steamers provide this opportunity.

Water
In most cases, you will get "hard" tap water, you probably noticed that teapots are overgrown with "fur". These lime deposits can also clog the iron over time leading to streaks on clothes that are water resistant.

Most iron manufacturers recommend using 50% tap water with 50% distilled water and performing a descaling routine regularly. This is also true if you use a water softener at home. These softening additives can be harmful to the iron if used for a long time.

Power
The higher the number of watts available, the faster the iron heats up. With more ironing, less time is spent waiting for a warm-up.
Also, ironing systems with a powerful steam generator significantly reduce the waiting time for the heating of the entire system.

Weight
If you are constantly ironing for long periods of time, then you will think about the weight of the iron. An average steam iron can be 1.5 kg - 1.7 kg with a full water tank. The steam generator iron can be about 1 kg, since the water and the rest of the components are in the base unit.
