Okuchnik disk to the walk-behind tractor characteristics and application. The device and use of a hiller for a walk-behind tractor in a summer cottage How to properly hang a disk hiller on a walk-behind tractor

It is not difficult to make a disk hiller for a walk-behind tractor with your own hands. This is a multifunctional device that helps to change the condition of the soil, make furrows and form ridges during hilling potatoes or other vegetable crops.

A walk-behind tractor or a cultivator will help facilitate planting and caring for potatoes. In the work in the garden or garden, they are considered indispensable helpers. An integral part of the walk-behind tractor is a plow. It can be reversible and disk. An additional adaptation to the technique is the hiller, which can be of several types.

Immediately determine which hiller is better, it will not work. The choice of hillers is influenced by many factors, among which are the characteristics of the soil, the size of the land plot, and the financial part of the issue plays an important role. Therefore, to do right choice, you need to get acquainted with the description of the most common hillers for a walk-behind tractor:

  • Hillers who don't assume self adjustment width between metal wings. The furrow for all crops will be the same distance, which is not very convenient. It is convenient to use similar types of structures for a motor cultivator weighing no more than 30 kg. In addition, the legs of the device are thin and not suitable for cultivating hard soil.
  • Equipment that involves changing the width between the wings, so the distance between the furrows can be made different. You can also use two units at the same time on one hitch. It is recommended to install on a walk-behind tractor weighing more than 30 kg.
  • The most popular type is a single-row hiller. The device is designed to work with light soil, previously processed by the cultivator. If a single-row plow is used, then the lugs are installed close to each other. This is necessary because the hilling is carried out in one row-spacing. There is a more modern two-row hiller for a walk-behind tractor.
  • Another device for hilling vegetables is the Dutch hiller. It allows you to adjust the wings not only horizontally, but also vertically.
  • The active hiller (rotary) of the propeller version is convenient to use. It has a completely different way of working. Rotary Hiller instead of wheels, it has rotors with parallel teeth. The device can be installed on a walk-behind tractor and a cultivator with two forward gears. Propellers mounted on the crossbar are convenient for crushing and loosening the soil, removing weeds with roots and hilling plants.
  • The best, judging by the reviews of the owners of walk-behind tractors with an additional device, is considered disk hiller on a motoblock. It consists of a T-shaped leash, screw adjusters, two posts and two discs. Work items do not look like wings, but in the form of disks. You can change not only the width, but also the angle of inclination. The result is ridges in the treated area of the desired height and width.

Before you start working on your land, you need to find out about the settings of the selected attachment. Improper use or installation of equipment can lead to crop loss and other adverse results.

The preparatory stage is the cultivation of the desired area, it is better to loosen the soil. At the same time, organic or mineral fertilizers can be applied. The looser the soil, the easier it will be to make furrows.

Before planting potatoes with a walk-behind tractor, you need to set marks at a distance of about 65 cm. Then furrows are made with a walk-behind tractor with a hiller and planting material is laid out. After that, the wheels are changed to rubberized ones, and the wings of the potato hiller to the walk-behind tractor are set to the maximum width. The walk-behind tractor is installed in the aisle and the plow is driven along the furrow, filling up the planted potatoes.

How to make a hiller?

A potato hiller, made for a do-it-yourself walk-behind tractor, will not differ in functionality from a factory-made unit. Making it simple. Required to work welding machine, grinder and metal sheet with a thickness of not more than 3 mm. Be sure to take into account the attachments for the walk-behind tractor or cultivator. The cultivator has less power than a walk-behind tractor.

For the hiller of the lister version, the cultivator will need metal 2 mm thick, from which the working material will be cut - half-wings. After the parts are cut out, they need to be bent in the desired radius. In the future, the parts are welded at the fixation points. The edges are processed with a grinder.

The distance between the two half-wings is fixed with a steel crossbar. On the inside of the device, a metal pipe with several holes is welded, which allows you to install the necessary recess in the soil. Another pipe is bolted to the rack, which goes to the walk-behind tractor.

You can also make disk hillers for a walk-behind tractor with your own hands. They are a little more difficult to make than the lister view, but with the drawings on hand, you can try.

To make a homemade disc hiller, you will need to purchase two concave discs (discs from an old seeder will do). You can cut metal plates yourself with a width of 2 mm. The diameter of the circles of the disk hiller must be at least 40 cm. You will also need two racks and turnbuckles, a leash in the form of the letter "T".

At the required distance, the discs are fixed at an angle on the rack with adjustable adapters by welding or bolts. Turnbuckles make it possible to adjust the discs vertically. When making a hiller yourself, you must make sure that the disks are installed symmetrically. Otherwise, the walk-behind tractor will skid to the side. The edges of the discs are treated with a grinder and sharpened well. The finished plow is attached to the beam, and then, using a T-shaped device, it is attached to the walk-behind tractor itself.

A do-it-yourself disk hiller has many advantages. Anyone can make it, you just need to find available drawings and diagrams (you can find them in special magazines about the garden, or on the Internet). Do-it-yourself potato hillers will require a little cost, and the efficiency is no different from the finished machine.

How to set up a disk hiller?

Adjustment of the equipment assumes its correct direction relative to the furrow. It should be parallel to the beds on the land with a certain angle of inclination and furrow width. A good set-up of technique will allow you to avoid mistakes and achieve good results during work.

To set the angle on the unit, there is a special screw adjustment that tilts the entire device relative to the walk-behind tractor. The depth of the furrow depends on the part to be adjusted. In addition, the adjustment is carried out when installing the hiller to the walk-behind tractor. This is done using holes for fasteners made in the rack. If moving hillers are installed, then the width and height of the ridge produced can be adjusted.

Okuchnik disk has more high quality than a plow, despite the fact that it takes more time to till the land. Work is not carried out on two furrows, as is the case with double-row hiller, but with one.

The disk weeder is easy to set up. The lower points of the disks are bred to the sides by approximately 40-70 cm (it all depends on the distance between the rows, the recommended width between the furrows for potatoes is 60-65 cm). When setting up the equipment, you need to remember about the angle of inclination and make sure that the disks are symmetrical to each other.

The walk-behind tractor is placed in the furrows so that the processed furrow is between the working disks. They lead exactly along the aisles, without affecting vegetable crop. The discs pick up the earth, forming a ridge, at the same time loosening and crushing large clods of earth.

For the entire period of growing potatoes, three hillings of potatoes are made. The first time the work is carried out when the height of the bushes is about 16 cm, the second time when their height is about 23 cm and the last time after flowering is completed.

The disk hiller for a walk-behind tractor is characterized individual features. The design is simple for self-manufacturing. Gardeners are interested in homemade products, as they are able to simplify the hard agricultural work associated with the processing of certain crops.

Description

Today, small-scale mechanization has become widespread. For agricultural work, a disk hiller for a walk-behind tractor is more often used. Outwardly, it looks like a frame on two wheels with discs attached to it. The device allows cultivating the soil both before sowing and after harvesting.

During the period of seedling growth, the aisles with plants are treated with this device. Disc hillers are suitable for garden equipment with two forward gears. The unit is compiled both with a walk-behind tractor and with a cultivator. There are also manual versions of this garden tool.

The difficulty with the disk hiller lies in the need to set the gap right size. Between the lower base of the discs, it is equal to the row spacing. In this case, the track width of the wheels of motor vehicles must correspond to the same distance. To create furrows, the discs are mounted with an inclination with respect to the vertical. Disc hillers cope with:

  • elimination of weeds;
  • arranging a ridge from the ground, which protects the tubers from sunlight (it is known that due to the proximity of the vegetable to the surface, its development is inhibited);
  • improved soil air exchange, which eliminates the evaporation of moisture.

Device

The main components of the device are:

  • T-shaped axis;
  • screw connections that regulate the angle of inclination of the disks;
  • racks in the amount of two pieces;
  • disks in the amount of two pieces.

Paired disks should be in the ground at a given depth with little or no resistance. They spin in the ground, excluding human effort. Thanks to the adjusted angle of inclination and the angle of take-off, the parts create a ridge. It is customary to set the discs to a value corresponding to the row spacing. Pairs of discs must be of the same diameter and weight. This is the only way to achieve evenness of the comb and smooth running of the device. The desired profile is aligned with the angle adjustment system.

The hinged hiller is not included in the standard package with walk-behind tractors and cultivators. Products are sold separately or made independently. To self-manufacturing people are pushed by the high cost of hillers. When buying, you should pay attention to the compliance of the hiller with the capacities of the main unit. The cost of the hiller is related to the variety of materials used in its manufacture.

Okuchnik can be installed on a walk-behind tractor with a two-speed engine with a reverse and the obligatory presence of a selective power shaft. It is understood that the two speeds of the gearbox regulate forward movement. When asking sellers for their availability, be sure to consider this factor.

Varieties

There are two types of disc hillers on the market. The most widespread are products with a variable width of the processed strip. The device is convenient not only for processing potatoes, but also for other crops, such as strawberries or beans. Thanks to the sliding design, the distance between the discs changes according to the required furrow width. Such equipment is more often used in coupling with heavy walk-behind tractors.

Simple units are distinguished by a constant working width, which is standardly 20-30 cm. The hiller device consists of mounts with disks located on them. Due to simplification, designs are cheaper in cost. They are also lighter, and therefore can be hung on light walk-behind tractors and cultivators.

The fixture can be upgraded to handle multiple rows at the same time. The set of equipment will be called multi-row and is unlikely to be suitable for small areas. The devices are popular with gardeners who have planted fields of a hectare or more.

In addition to attachments, there are manual disk hillers. They are also efficient and inexpensive. The hand tool differs in durability and reliability, the compact sizes, ease in management. The tool can be used both in small gardens and in the fields. If the device is provided with a weighting agent and a steering wheel, then control will be available to one operator. The standard manual design involves the operation of two people, one of whom pushes the tool and the other pulls.

How to do it yourself?

Any equipment is easier to manufacture if there is an appropriate drawing with the given dimensions. The tool manufacturing algorithm is required first:

  • draw drawings on paper;
  • make a template in full size, according to which steel parts will then be cut out;
  • bend the disk blanks in level until parallel lines of radius are reached;
  • organize welding work with an apparatus with the appropriate power for the metal used;
  • clean the welding edges with emery;
  • fasten racks and lanyards with bolts;
  • weld structural elements;
  • adjust the position of the disks.

The required steel thickness for discs is 2-3 mm. The distance between the elements can vary from 35 to 70 cm. Racks and brackets are made of ordinary water pipes diameter up to 20 mm, steel thickness about 2 mm.

Necessary materials and tools

As disks, it is allowed to use ordinary covers from kitchen utensils with a diameter of 40 to 60 cm. These parameters are selected experimentally and are associated with the power traction of the walk-behind tractor. A unit that is too heavy may simply not pull. Connector elements will be replaced by a hollow pipe with a diameter of at least an inch, with a meter value.

The assignment of tractive force will be performed by a hollow pipe with a section of 3⁄4 inches. For a leash, you need to choose T-shaped steel products. Adjustable adapters are useful for coupling disc elements. Bolts will play the role of fasteners. The elements are fastened with welded seams, bent with a turbo bender or with a gas lamp. If the design is made for a walk-behind tractor, a bracket should be provided. Hand tools need comfortable grips.

Manufacturing

You can make a hiller for the popular motoblocks "Ugra", "Belarus 09N-02", "Motor Sich" according to the same principle. The main axles on which the disks are hung are adjusted to the parameters of the walk-behind tractor. The parts are joined together by welding. The main condition for disks is a symmetrical arrangement. Both elements are mounted at an angle, and the best option connections will be adjustable with an adapter. The elements of the holders are bent using a turbo bender, and then attached to the axis by welding. The reliability of the fasteners must be checked, and the welding edges should be cleaned.

The elements are attached to the axis with the letter T. The assembled structure is installed to the walk-behind tractor using a bracket. Stopper can be inserted inside profile pipe and press firmly. Finishing the hiller is done before planting potatoes. This will allow you to eliminate shortcomings in a timely manner and not spoil the crop.

Trial work is preferably carried out on an empty site. So it is more convenient to check the profile of the resulting ridge, evaluate the width of the capture, the parameters of the deepening of the mechanisms.

In the process of work, you can set the optimal speed, which will correspond to the power of your walk-behind tractor. Do-it-yourself mechanisms allow you not only to save on attachments for a walk-behind tractor, but also to facilitate manual labor. Even if there is no unit with a power device on the farm. A home-made manual disk hiller will be a good helper, and it will also save money on the purchase of equipment.

Assembly

The main elements of the manual disk hiller remain the same. The assembly of the product is easier, since the two disks of the hiller are connected to each other by a conventional sleeve or by welding through a pipe, which will play the role of a jumper. Manual models do not imply adjustment of the connection angle, so they can be used along row spacings with a standard spacing. The free rotation of the disks around the axis will be facilitated by the hubs. Due to the rotation, the tool will easily enter even heavy dense soil.

Elements with discs are connected to a beam, for the connection of which a welding machine is useful. Connectors can be selected anchor bolts. Such fasteners make it easy to disassemble the garden tool.

A handle is needed to control the device. As which you can choose a steering wheel from an old bicycle or other similar inventory. It is fixed on the beam and aligned with the height of the person who will control the hiller.

By the way, wheels from an old bicycle can also be adapted to a manual hiller. If they are attached to the frame in front, this will significantly reduce the load on the operator. Some craftsmen use a bicycle frame in the assembly, installing hiller discs instead of pedals. The design remains the steering wheel and one wheel.

The order of work, enshrined in technical passport factory device, involves a mandatory check of the connections of the rotating elements and the fixation of the axes. The treated area should not have foreign objects. When maneuvering with the machine, it is important to be careful. To avoid injury from sharp corners, it is important to maintain a safe distance. Special gloves will help protect your hands from accidental cuts.

The main purpose of the walk-behind tractor is tillage, where one of the tasks is to prepare it for planting. Consequently, walk-behind tractors can be equipped with special equipment, one of which is considered a hiller. With its help, preparatory and planting work with potatoes is carried out, greatly simplifies the work. The task of the hiller is to make a furrow on the ground and fill it with earth after planting.

But even this is not all, hillers can also have different types designs and characteristics, the most popular can be considered:

  • propeller-type hillers;
  • lister hillers;
  • disk;
  • with the ability to change the span width.

If you do not know which hiller is best for a walk-behind tractor, let's look at the characteristics and advantages of each type.

Disc hiller

It is distinguished by excellent efficiency, the efficiency and power of the hiller is affected by the speed of the cultivating unit, where, at lower rates, the power increases. With a disk hiller, the life of the device increases, Having simple design and an understandable principle of operation, the hiller does not require much effort during operation. It also doesn't require much maintenance. Ideal for use before planting potatoes. Disc models are considered the most popular, if only because they are represented by several types. There are the following disk hillers:

  1. With a constant working width - the average constant width is 20-30 cm, set by the manufacturer. Recommended for use with walk-behind tractors low power and weight.
  2. With a variable grip width - they are actively used for hilling various agricultural crops, adjusting the grip width will allow you to adjust the hilling for potatoes, and after the change, you can hill the beans with a smaller width. The maximum possible working width is 70 cm, so it is perfectly adjustable for different processes.

Also, many are wondering: how to set up a disk hiller?

How to set up the hiller?

Using washers and bolts on the hitch bracket. the hiller is hooked to the walk-behind tractor. If you are working with an adjustable hiller, it is important to consider parameters such as the depth of penetration into the ground and the width of the dive angle. The disk hiller must be positioned so that its racks are vertical.

Next, you will have to adjust the width of the corner and the depth of immersion; for this, lanyards and special screws are used, which regulate all indicators. You will have to adjust for certain crops for which hilling is carried out.

Propeller type hiller

If your walk-behind tractor has two forward gears, this type of hiller will be an ideal option. The basis of the presented hiller can be called special propellers, the task of which is to pre-crush the soil, and then get all the unnecessary weeds. The resulting loose soil is available for use, that is, ready for hilling.

Try to use streamlined hillers, they allow you to leave moisture in the soil, because they have less intensity when working with soil.

Lister Hiller

Models with a lister design can be considered the simplest, because they do not have the ability to adjust the working width, the system has already set the furrow width. The average capture of a lister hiller is 30 cm, which is quite an average figure for planting most crops.

The lister hiller works great with most walk-behind tractors; having racks installed, there is no possibility of overloading the walk-behind tractor.

Hiller with variable working width

The ability to change the width of the grip is one of the most important characteristics of the hiller, so the presented model can be called the best hiller for a walk-behind tractor. This is the most convenient and effective method prepare the ground before planting. The design of the hiller involves an adjustment mechanism that can adjust the location of the wings. By correctly setting this indicator, you get the optimal width between the rows. Manufacturers of such models recommend the use of hillers with a variable working width paired with walk-behind tractors with a power above 4 hp. This is an important parameter, otherwise it will harm the walk-behind tractor itself.

Single-row hiller for walk-behind tractor

A single-row hiller can be called a standard model with simple use, it also has the ability to work with low-power walk-behind tractors, providing good work. It is possible to spud only 1 bed per pass, but in turn this will make it possible to adjust the device to the exact parameters. Single-row models can also be presented in different designs and are intended for certain walk-behind tractors.

Video

A walk-behind tractor is a truly indispensable unit when cultivating the land before planting it. Okuchnik - view additional equipment used on walk-behind tractors, which will speed up and improve the process of planting potatoes and pre-planting work in general.

Types of hillers, their characteristics

With the help of this unit, the process of making furrows on the soil surface and filling them with material for planting is carried out.

If you use a hiller, then the rows of planted potatoes will be even and spaced at an equal distance from each other. There are several main types of hillers that can be listed.

To choose the right hiller for a walk-behind tractor, you need to note for yourself their main features and characteristics. There are many models of hillers, but the most common are the following:

  • lister;
  • disk hillers;
  • propeller type;
  • with varying width.

Lister

This type is the simplest. They differ in that they have a strictly set furrow width that will be covered by the device, and it cannot be changed, it does not depend on the distance between the rows. Typically, the capture of such an hiller is not more than thirty centimeters. A characteristic feature is that the hiller is equipped with installed racks that do not allow overloading the walk-behind tractor during operation.

This type is more efficient. The lower the speed of the cultivating unit, the greater the power of the hiller itself. This helps to significantly extend the service life. Besides, disk devices easier to handle - in the process of working with them you need less effort. And the most important advantage of this type is versatility. The unit can be used both before planting and at the time when the part located above the soil increases.

With variable working width

If we talk about hillers, the coverage width of which can be changed, it should be noted that they are used to work with powerful units weighing more than thirty kilograms.

Propeller type

Propeller hillers are used on those walk-behind tractors that are equipped with two forward gears.

When choosing hillers for potatoes for a walk-behind tractor, a few more points should be taken into account. It is better to use streamlined equipment (a plow-shaped hiller works well), because they turn the soil less intensively, which does not allow it to lose moisture.

In addition, it is worth giving preference to steel tools with a sheet of greater width and with the presence of bearings. The dimensions of the hiller are related to the size of the walk-behind tractor and the length of the cultivated strip of land.

How to make a hiller for a walk-behind tractor with your own hands? There are many drawings and diagrams for this. In general, there is no difficulty in making a hiller with your own hands. Having picked up the right hiller, select the scheme and get to work.
Below is an example of a lister type hiller.

Take a metal layer two millimeters thick. Then cut out the halves of the part from it according to the proposed template (taking into account the dimensions). Important! The halves must be symmetrical, otherwise it will affect the operation of the device in the future. Then bend both halves until the radii match, then weld them, making two or three passes. Next, process the welds.

It is very important to choose the right drawing for the future product in order to avoid any mismatches (during operation, the structure will start to lead to the side, etc.). With high-quality and careful manufacturing, home-made equipment does not create any difficulties and interference during hilling.

It is also easy to design a disk hiller for a walk-behind tractor with your own hands.

To create such a device, you can take plowshares (disks) from a seeder that has already served its time. Or they can be made directly from sheets of metal (no more than 2 mm thick), then bend the edge of the bottom edge. The distance observed between the points of the lower supports corresponds to the width of the track itself. Then the disks are fastened together, but with the discretion that the connecting elements can be adjusted.

In addition, for disk hillers for a walk-behind tractor, screw lanyards, racks (which have already been mentioned) and a leash in the shape of the letter T are required. Lanyards are attached directly to the walk-behind tractor. For cutting furrows, the above type is better than others.

Do-it-yourself hillers for a walk-behind tractor are always pleasing to the eye, and working with them is much more pleasant and faster.

Whoever uses walk-behind tractors knows: it is not always possible to purchase the necessary attachments for the unit. Many of them are expensive, and some are not very convenient to use in the country or garden. Here, an individual approach is often important. Therefore, do-it-yourself disk hillers for a walk-behind tractor, drawings, the video of which is in in large numbers on the Internet, will help those who wish to realize individually, in their own way, the problem of mechanization of hilling their plantations.

For ease of parsing how to make a mounted hiller on the unit, first we will analyze how to do manual hiller for potatoes.

As can be seen from the drawing, to facilitate labor without a motor, you also need to try. But not as much as it seems. First of all, you need tools to work:

  • a hammer;
  • vise;
  • welding machines, preferably both electric and autogenous;
  • calipers;
  • taps for cutting internal threads;
  • collar for taps;
  • grinder with interchangeable discs;
  • gas burner for heating the metal when it needs to be bent;
  • Workbench;
  • all kinds of auxiliary tools.

Disc hiller

Let's get down to how to make a hiller for potatoes with your own hands. The drawing shows that the main tool is moldboard discs. They must be within 400 mm. This is optimal. Because we usually plant potatoes at a depth of 60-80 mm, and then the roots grow about 200 mm. It turns out, having passed in the aisle with inclined disks of the specified size, we completely spud a row of potatoes.

So, we make 2 disks from a steel sheet 2 mm thick, 400 in diameter. Some are made from old pot lids. Let. But it is desirable to make solid discs that will last a long time. You can take it from agricultural machinery decommissioned into scrap metal. But best of all - alloyed stainless steel. The edges of the disks, where the cutting edges will be, are sharpened. Now we make a bridge with racks on which the disks will be fixed. We calculate the dimensions. On a strong steel pipe on both sides we put on a connecting mount for pipes (sold everywhere). The free ends of the fasteners are directed downwards. From above, we drill the pipe through the holes in the mount. Each fastener is drilled on both sides. Fasten with nuts and bolts.

If you want to make grips of different widths, then drill an additional two more holes on both sides. To change the width of the grip, it is enough to rearrange the posts further or closer to the ends of the bridge, and fasten through the holes. Then we insert tubes - racks into the mounts from below. We also drill, fasten in the connection. Two bolts with nuts for each rack. Then at the bottom of each rack we make a mechanism for inclined movable disks. First we attach the bracket for the disk. And we also do 2-3 pipe drilling positions. To be able to change the inclination of the disks.

On the other side of the bracket, we weld a short thick steel bar. At its other end - in the bushing ring - press in a closed-type plain bearing. Weld a wide washer with holes for fastening the disk to the sleeve from the inside in advance. For each disc, weld the same wide washers with holes in the center inward. We fix the discs with bolts and nuts. We got two movable disks inclined at a certain angle, attached to racks on the same bridge. You can come up with an additional device for tilting the disks to the right - to the left. To do this, you need to choose a hinge-mounted bracket mechanism. These are also on sale. Yes, and in the old details of agricultural machinery can be found.

Attaching a hiller

Hiller for walk-behind tractor must be connected, hung to the unit in such a way as shown in this drawing:

It can be seen from the drawing that we need to connect the device to the walk-behind tractor through brackets and strong steel tubes to the bridge. Strengthen the connection with a cross bar. Turn on the motor. The wheels are moving. You hold on to the handles of the walk-behind tractor. Carried away by the movement, the created one comes into action with my own hands hilling tool. The discs only need to be made at symmetrical angles so that they do not lead in one direction when hilling. The considered version of the tool is not the only one. There are others. Let's consider them in turn.

Lister model

This homemade hiller for a walk-behind tractor is interesting in that it is easy to make it in a rigid, non-sliding version. Here is a photo of such a hiller:

In order to do this, you need a little time and material. Cut from 2
millimeter steel billet according to the drawing, a certain configuration. Let's sharpen the future lower edge. Let's bend in the middle. How to bend? through a fixed pipe. Finish the fold by punching the leading edge with a hammer. Then we spread the wings of the hiller. We fix the width between the wings with a steel cross member welded between them at the back. We break through the bottom of the product so that the wings turn out to be plowshare-like. From the inside, in front of the hiller, we weld a stand with several holes drilled so that you can adjust the depth (higher, lower) of the hiller immersion in the soil. To the rack we bolt the rod that goes to the walk-behind tractor. We fasten the bar to the walk-behind tractor.

The same lister model, made in a sliding version:

Okuchnik lies upside down, Therefore, his device is visible. Apparently, a factory hiller. You can do the exact same thing by hand. Instead of a cross member that tightly connects the wings, three connection elements are used here: in the middle, welded in front, a rod with holes; two crossbars from the wings, overlapping on the middle bar. The connection point is reinforced with a bolt and nut. The skid bars are attached to the fenders with a welded lug, so the skid bars can be movable. By moving the bolt closer or farther along the bar, you can adjust the width of the wings. Everything else with a sliding lister hiller is done in the same way as with a fixed one. Of course, sliding is better. It turns out that you can adjust not only the depth, but also the width of the hilling.

There is one more option. For processing two rows at once. This improvement speeds up the process. Time, effort and fuel of the walk-behind tractor are saved. A dual device is made in this way. Two homemade hiller with racks are attached to a square horizontal bar. There are a lot of such metal products. You can always find the right thing. We do the fastening of the hiller racks to the bar like this. We cut (or saw out) a strip of two-millimeter steel. At the ends of the strip we make rectangular long slots.

We bend the metal in the middle, so that the middle goes around the square bar at a right angle from behind. We pass the hiller stand into the double eyelet that has turned out in front. A hole for the bolt is pre-drilled in the mount. On the bar we make holes on the right and left, at the same distance from each other. In the holes, we manually cut the thread for the bolt using a tap with a crank. Wrapping the bolt into the back of the mount through the thread in the rod, we tighten the hiller stand inserted into the lugs of the mount at point-blank range. Because the bolt will rest against the front of the bar and begin to move the bar forward, pulling on the bent mount, securing the rack.

In the middle of the rod we cook a small stand for a rigid hinged connection to the walk-behind tractor. By moving racks with hillers along the bar, you can choose the width of the rows of double hilling. Sliding wings will help you choose the mode of the blade.

Propeller type hiller

There is one more option. it propeller-type active hiller. Such a hiller can be made to walk-behind tractors that have a power take-off shaft and two gears. Rotation together with translational movement makes hilling better. The earth is loosened, spudding rows of plantings. Making such a homemade tool is easy. Finished activators are mounted on the axis, the distance between them is set. If there are bushings with brackets, you can change activators of different sizes.

An important tool is the hiller. The range of store prices is large - from 700 rubles to 11 thousand. It depends on what hiller, and how it is made. Naturally, homemade is more profitable. In addition, a good owner and craftsman will make a good product. And you can always customize the tillage tool to suit your needs, which attachments factory production is sometimes not very convenient.

Homemade hiller - saving money and doing the work that is needed specifically on your site.
