DIY dressing room interior (room photo)

The presence of a dressing room in the house helps to free the living space from bulky furniture, optimizes life and allows you to quickly find the right thing. You can equip such a room by contacting professionals by ordering a ready-made storage system according to individual sizes. Less costly and yet interesting solution- do-it-yourself dressing room: drawings, diagrams and photos from useful tips on arrangement will help make the process easy and fast.

For those who intend to assemble a wardrobe system with their own hands, it is necessary to pay attention not only to the size of the room itself, but also to the possibility of compact and rational internal filling. To achieve maximum accuracy, it is recommended to pre-develop drawings and diagrams of the future storage system. Ready-made design projects for wardrobe rooms with your own hands, photos and diagrams will become a good example when creating your own version.

exclusivity corner layout lies in the fact that under the dressing room you can use places that are usually not involved in any way and are difficult to access. For example, it can be a corner, where doors or windows are located in the walls forming it at a small distance from the center of the corner. Such a space is usually empty, so taking this area under the corner dressing room is the most successful and practical option.

Depending on the area allotted for the dressing room, the corner space can be separated from the main room in several ways. If there is enough space, they arrange a plasterboard partition, and in the case of minimal dimensions, an open storage system project is suitable. Many people use a corner wardrobe in the hallway, which is a worthy alternative to a separate room. Photos of dressing rooms with your own hands will serve as a good example of creating a storage area.

Helpful advice! When cutting off the corner for the dressing room, it is best to use drywall plates: this material is quite light, it is well cut and easy to install.

If you prefer a corner dressing room in the hallway, which will be separated from the main room, then you can equip the interior in two ways: along one or two walls. The scheme of the first option is a storage system compactly assembled along one wall. It is recommended to leave racks and shelves open, which will save space. The remaining space is used for moving around the dressing room, as well as under the fitting room.

In the second option, the location of the filling is planned along two walls. The main advantage of such a filling is compactness with maximum capacity. However, it is worth considering that you can simply enter such a dressing room, but you will not be able to use it as a fitting room. This filling method is suitable for families of several people, where the main task is to fit the things of each of the household as much as possible. For filling, storage systems with a set of corner components are used, which provide good ergonomics for a small space.

Corner wardrobes in the hallway can be fenced off with swing doors, accordion doors or light sliding partitions, however, it is worth considering the features of the hallway. If the room is rather modest, the swing option is absolutely not appropriate. Radius sliding systems look spectacular, the content of which is selected in unison with the overall interior.

Arrangement of a dressing room in the bedroom

Photos of do-it-yourself wardrobe systems, equipped in the bedroom, indicate that this is one of the most common and convenient options. The feasibility of creating a dressing room on the territory of the bedroom can be determined by calculating the area of the sleeping area. If the size of the bedroom significantly exceeds this parameter, you can safely proceed to self-construction dressing room.

There are several schemes for organizing the internal space in the dressing room. This can be a linear storage system design, the arrangement of modules in the form of the letter "U" or "L", as well as the parallel placement of racks and shelves. The most optimal version is a U-shaped dressing room. This layout contributes to the maximum filling of the room and at the same time allows you to leave room for movement around it. As a rule, for U-shaped dressing rooms you need enough footage, however, they can also be accommodated in modest areas.

Helpful advice! An interesting idea is to arrange a dressing room in the bedroom behind the head of the bed: it is separated by a light stationary partition or sliding systems.

For small bedrooms, where it is not possible to isolate 1.5 - 2 m from the room, they are limited to a wardrobe in the bedroom. Such furniture is compact, it does not take up much space and has a thoughtful filling. Ways to fill wardrobes can be found in the catalogs of sites that sell and manufacture furniture. Ready-made sets of storage systems with a narrow specialization for clothes, shoes and accessories are distinguished by unsurpassed ergonomics.

If the layout is such that the dressing room is a walk-through, the parallel arrangement of storage systems is the best fit. Do-it-yourself drawings of racks and shelves in the dressing room indicate that with this method of filling, movement around the room is not difficult, and the storage system can accommodate everything you need. The most convenient combination is the bedroom-dressing room-shower room. But there may be other options.

Dressing room design from pantry 1.1 by 1.5 m

Many professional designers believe that it is not advisable to use a dressing room smaller than 2 sq.m. However, photos of dressing rooms from small pantries indicate that such a small space can be successfully planned for functional system storage. It is on such works that the professionalism of designers is tested. After all, it is necessary not only to transform the pantry into a dressing room, but also to take into account the interests of everyone who will use it, given the lack of square meters.

Projects and drawings of such wardrobes require accurate calculations and optimal internal content. Shallow shelves are very relevant for filling a dressing room measuring 1.1x1.5 m. If you do not fence off the room with a door, the shelves can be moved outside the pantry and then they will become part of the room's furniture and effectively complement the interior. In this case, shelves and racks are designed in such a way that they flow smoothly from the dressing room into the room.

A photo of small dressing rooms from pantries clearly illustrates the options when the entire length of one of the walls is used for the storage system. With such a project, you can carve out additional space so that you can enter the dressing room to search for the right things. However, in order to use the space of the mini-dressing room as much as possible, it is recommended to arrange them as a niche, which is fenced off from the main room with an accordion door or a sliding sliding door.

Helpful advice! When filling a small dressing room, you should place things so that the most frequently used ones are located in the middle.

The assembly scheme is a metal rack that is mounted between the ceiling and the floor by surprise. Further, shelves, boxes, racks and crossbars are fixed to them, which practically “float in the air”. Such filling is characterized by ease of installation, lightness and strength of the structure itself.

It is recommended to divide the wardrobe-dressing room into several functional sections:

 • lower compartment - shoes should be stored here, small accessories(umbrellas, bags) and trousers. The height from the floor should be no more than 70-80 cm. It is better to store shoes on special inclined sliding shelves (height is about 30 cm for summer shoes, 40-45 cm for winter shoes);

 • middle compartment - used primarily for storing frequently used items. Rods, pantographs, as well as retractable shelves for storing small toilet items are equipped here. Depending on the length of things, the height of the middle zone varies from 140 to 170 cm. Approximately 100 cm is allocated to the compartments for storing shirts and jackets. Knitwear is conveniently stored in baskets and boxes mounted on shelves;

 • the upper compartment is equipped with racks for storing overall items and seasonal items: blankets, pillows, bulky bags, suitcases, as well as sports and household equipment.

Modern storage systems are hard to imagine without innovative components. These include various holders for trousers and skirts, belts, ties, scarves, boxes for various small things, textile holders for bags and much more. The press hanger for trousers is very convenient in use: it is supplied with coat hangers for a jacket, a hanger for a belt and a tie. All holders are equipped with special soft clips that do not leave marks on clothes.

Rules for a successful dressing room

If there is an unused corner of a sufficient area in a house or apartment, it is quite possible to make a full-fledged dressing room in it. A pantry or attic is perfect for this role, it is enough to install a partition and equip shelves. Any dressing room must obey the following rules.

 1. The size is at least 1 * 1.5 m. In a tighter dressing room it will not be possible to install shelves or it will not be possible to enter it, which will significantly reduce functionality.
 2. To make the room comfortable, you should take care of installing a mirror. This will facilitate and speed up the daily preparation of a successful outfit.
 3. You need to take care of ventilation. If the natural one is not enough, it is worth installing a forced one. Otherwise, the musty smell will haunt you constantly.
 4. If there is no window in the corner in which it was decided to make a dressing room, sufficient lighting must also be provided.
 5. The most successful door to the dressing room is a compartment. She will not eat up the already limited space. In addition, due to its features, it will provide an influx of fresh air. Yes, and decorating such a door is easier than a swing door.
 6. Be sure to plan the internal structure in advance. This will take into account all the features and preferences of the owner of the new dressing room.

Planning

The dressing room is a closet that you can enter. It is from this rule that you should build on if you decide to make it yourself. First of all, you need to draw a plan for the future storage corner, taking into account preferences and some rules. The correct internal arrangement of the dressing room will save a lot of space. What rules should be considered when planning a new closet or wardrobe?

 1. The height of the compartment for thick outerwear is from 150 cm.
 2. Office for light outerwear - from 100 cm.
 3. The height of the shelves for shoes - according to the height of the most voluminous box + 10 cm.
 4. The height of the shelves for basic things is selected individually, but usually not higher than 40-45 cm. For more high shelves storing trousers and sweaters neatly is extremely difficult. It is better to make more shelves.
 5. The width of each compartment, of course, the larger the better, but an approximate stock can also be calculated by inspecting your clothing stocks.
 6. You should not make shelves without a minimum margin in height and width. Free space is necessary for ventilation.
 7. It is better to make a choice in favor of quantity. It is more convenient to store a thing folded in several units. Tall stacks will inevitably shift, creating a mess.
 8. Some items, such as socks and underwear, are best stored in well-ventilated drawers or baskets.
 9. For frequently used wardrobe items, shelves should be at chest level or slightly lower.
 10. Removable shelves are excellent. Their installation will allow you to change the design of the wardrobe without global alterations.

Before you start making a dressing room with your own hands, you need to approve the final plan. This will allow you to accurately calculate the consumption of material and avoid rework.

Material and finish

Chipboard is a good material for assembling a dressing room.

For the dressing room, you can use any furniture materials. Perfect for natural wood, chipboard and laminate. These materials absorb moisture and return it to the environment as conditions change. Wood and its derivatives are easy to work with, reliable and durable. But it is necessary to take care of the correct and sufficient processing so that the new cabinet does not spoil things.

Drywall can also be used, but keep in mind that it is quite heavy and the shelf from it will sag under its own weight. This construction material can be used for partitions, because the reliability of the walls of the dressing room does not play a decisive role. In addition, drywall will absorb excess moisture, thereby ensuring the safety of things.

For interior decoration dressing room, you can use the same materials as for decorating the room. If the updated closet and bedroom are designed in the same style, this will emphasize the taste of the owners. Wardrobe cabinets painted in bright colors or pasted over with wallpaper look stylish and original. And a special chic - dressing room, decorated with wooden panels.

It is always worth remembering that the dressing room is a closed space and care must be taken to maintain the correct level of humidity.

Bags with moisture-absorbing material, such as silica gel, will help solve the problem.

A dressing room is needed not only to make your beloved happy. For that matter, she is much more interested in the contents of it. A dressing room is needed, first of all, so that things in it are stored for a long time and reliably: they do not deteriorate with pests, do not gather dust, do not cake, do not fade. How to equip the storage of clothes, shoes, underwear with your own hands? We will see.

Storage conditions

Suits, as you know, are never washed. They are periodically given to dry cleaning, and in between they are cleaned with a brush, vacuum cleaner or household steam generator. In all three cases, grease particles and dust, entangled in the fibers of the fabric during wear, for the most part remain there.

Nothing wrong with that. Fabrics made from natural fibers, especially woolen, have the property of self-cleaning. The essence of this process (very subtle, by the way) has been understood by science only in our days, and nanotechnologists promise in the near future wearable things that will never need to be cleaned, washed and ironed at all. An experimental three-piece suit made of nanofibers, soaked in liquid pig manure and tightly rumpled in a ball, cleared itself and sagged in an hour; it took several thousand man-hours of highly skilled labor to create it.

Probably, the matter will not be limited to self-cleaning suits, but when it will be. In the meantime, the dressing room should, firstly, provide a weak natural ventilation. One exchange of air in it should occur within three to four hours. With a more intensive exchange, the dust of eggs and pest spores cannot be ruled out.

The next moment is light. For your information, the larvae of the most common clothes moth do not develop from eggs already at the weakest visible eye sunlight. Therefore, clothing storage, unlike closets, should also provide some natural lighting inside.

Finally, drying wet clothes. It is not necessary to dry it intensively to “gunpowder” before hanging or putting it in storage; from this, the fibers of the fabric or leather dry out and become brittle. In general, the thing soon loses the appearance of novelty and does not last long.

Soaked wearable items must first be “shaken” - simply dry in a room, no closer than 1.5 m from heating appliances, until their moisture ceases to be felt when squeezing. After that, they are placed in a wardrobe or room, arranged according to all the rules, but more on that below.

Then the following happens: particles of contaminants in the fabric, interacting in the thinnest film with residual moisture, are completely decomposed by chemical means. In this case, weak heat is released, providing enhanced air exchange. When things are thus cleared, the dressing room automatically returns to long-term storage mode with a very sluggish air exchange.

If there are no opportunities for ventilation, it comes to bacterial decomposition - rotting - not only dirt, but also the fabric / skin itself. As they say, things suffocated. The well-known "grandmother's chest smell" is a sign of their mustiness. Periodic airing does not improve things, things themselves still cake and then decay.

More about clothes. A closet doesn't have to be sparse. The recovery process after wearing takes several days, so the outfits need to be changed regularly not only for the sake of elegance. M. V. Lomonosov, who went through all the stages from poverty to enormous wealth, once determined: 1 coarse-wooled caftan wears out into a rag with holes in a year with the most careful wear. 5 caftans of the same cloth are enough for 10 years to keep a certain decency in clothes. And 20 caftans made of thin double cloth, exquisite, but less durable, he had enough for the rest of his life, and they remained like new. In any case, appearing at the court of a very demanding appearance retinue of Catherine II, he never caught a sidelong glance at his clothes.

How to make a dressing room

First of all - what is a dressing room? It is easier for oligarchs - they can allocate even a hangar from under the TU-95 in a caponier for their wardrobe. And what should we consider a dressing room? A closet, a room, a rack (by the way, this is a very useful option in terms of ventilation and light, if only it passes by design; we’ll talk about wardrobe racks later)?

We decide simply - if you can move it, disassemble it, then this is a closet. Preferably -, because. the gaps between the leaves and, especially, at the top and bottom, where the rails with rollers, solve the problem of ventilation automatically, and space is saved. If it is mounted directly on the floor in a permanent place, this is already a dressing room, even if it is 1x1.5 m. Here, again, a wardrobe-compartment is optimal, but in the corner wardrobes you will have to make hinged doors and take care of ventilation. And, finally, if attached to the wall - we have a wardrobe-rack. A special case is a wardrobe-pencil case with a retractable hanger, then we will analyze it.

materials

Any furniture materials will fit to build a dressing room. It is only necessary to say that a home-made dressing room made of drywall is an amateur to make your heart's content. Drywall, generally speaking, is not intended for furnishing; it is a finishing material, or a flat, slightly loaded floor. For furniture, drywall is too heavy and fragile; drywall shelf sags under its own weight.

Plasterboard furniture is made on a spatial frame of a rather complex design, and after assembly, the entire product requires careful finishing. On the one hand, for an actual utility room, the labor intensity and cost of arrangement are too high, and the capacity decreases, because. a solid plasterboard shelf cannot be made less than 5 cm thick.

But on the other hand, it is for the dressing room that the presence of many deaf cavities sheathed with a vapor-permeable material turns out to be useful. They play the role of a thermal and humidity buffer, which excludes sharp fluctuations in the microclimate in the room. What, as you know, neither clothes, nor shoes, nor hats like.

Wood, laminate and moisture

No one can guarantee that the clothes placed in the dressing room are "shaken" in moderation; excess moisture can lead to mustiness. A dressing room made of wood excludes it: wood, even stained, is still porous. It will absorb excess water vapor, and then gradually release it in the optimal proportion.

Laminate has all the useful properties of wood, except for porosity. But it has other advantages: cheapness and low labor intensity of work, strength, durability. When the dressing room project is ready, in any furniture workshop they will cut the blanks to size and trim the PVC saw cuts to match the customer's request. It will cost much less than buying sheets at retail, and all that remains is to assemble the product.

However, the laminate does not breathe, and for a dressing room this is a factor of paramount importance. A rag bag of silica gel in each section can help out at the rate of 20 g per kilogram of the weight of things. Since you need little silica gel, it is better to buy a more expensive indicator one, it discolors when it loses its ability to absorb moisture. Restoring it is simple: you need to heat the produced silica gel in a dry atmosphere (in the oven or with a household hair dryer) to 70-80 degrees. After 5-20 minutes, the color appears again - the moisture absorbent has dried out and is ready for use again.

Dimensions

As for the configuration, design style and finishes, the dressing room arrangement is a matter of personal taste and needs only. It is only necessary to observe some sizes, it is important that the clothes breathe:

 1. The height of the compartment for coats, raincoats, jackets, suits - from 150 cm, to the level of the bar for coat hangers; from it to the top is about 10 cm.
 2. The height of the compartment for light outerwear on a coat hanger is from 100 cm + 10 cm.
 3. The height of hat and shoe shelves - according to the highest item + 5-10 cm.
 4. The height of the linen shelves - according to the content, within 250-450 mm.

The height of the shelves is determined simply: we sort the linen, it is possible on paper, in a list, and we divide the height of the dressing room by the number of varieties; subtract the thickness of the material from the obtained value. So, if in the drawings below you see dimensions like 338 mm, 413 mm, etc., do not rack your brains, according to what abstruse formulas this happened. The authors counted according to the assortment of their linen (or the linen of the customer), and no one bothers you to calculate it in your own way.

The depth of all compartments is the width of the widest shoulders + 10-20 cm; with one exception, see the section on dressing rooms in block Khrushchevs. As a rule, it turns out 45-65 cm. As for the width, it is determined as follows:

 • 17-25 cm for each winter coat, jacket, three-piece suit.
 • 12-17 cm for a raincoat without an insulating lining, a demi-season coat and light outerwear stored in a hanging position.
 • 7-12 cm for shirt and blouse.
 • The length of hat and shoe shelves - along the width of the compartment, except for the mentioned case for block Khrushchev.
 • The length of the linen shelves - according to the principle remaining from the clothing compartments. May need to be re-sorted; for example, bring your husband’s T-shirts, T-shirts and underpants into one, and do the same with your thongs and bras (fee!)

Width and depth are related. The minimum width values correspond to the maximum depth, i.e. the compartment volume per corresponding garment is constant. It does not depend on the height of the compartment; a margin of 5 cm at the top and bottom is enough to ensure air circulation. 10 cm or more at the top can be given for the sake of ease of use.

Layout

As is clear from the requirements for humidity and ventilation, storage alone is not enough for a wardrobe. You need a wardrobe system of at least two components: an open hanger for “shaking out” and a room or cabinet with an even, mild microclimate for storing and self-restoring wearable items.

If there is some excess living space, a dryer is also useful. The easiest way to equip it is in houses with stove heating: according to fire safety rules, the stove should not be adjacent to the wall. It is inconvenient to build it in the middle of the room, therefore, in almost every house with stove heating solid fuel near the stove there is a nook, colloquially referred to as a shlamnik. By the way, according to popular beliefs, there lives a kind of authority among brownies - Trash. The chlamnik is an ideal place to pre-dry clothes.

In city apartments, clothes are “shaken” on a hanger in the hallway. It is not necessary to buy it at all, it is easily made by a novice master from a laminate, like the one in fig. Decorative edging - from metal push pins. To make it even and beautiful, they are pricked according to a template from a metal corner, in one of the shelves of which holes are drilled slightly larger than the diameter of the button pins.

Only the extreme holes should be on a line parallel to the corner shelf. Intermediate ones can be made with variable pitch, arc, zigzag, wave, etc., achieving decorative effects. Use the template like this:

 1. The first portion of the buttons is placed by gently pressing with a finger, if only the holes are outlined.
 2. Carefully, pressing with a screwdriver, remove the template along with the buttons; you need to act carefully: although the buttons are pressed in a little, but there are a lot of them and everything together is held quite tightly.
 3. The buttons, except for the last one in the batch, are rearranged from the template to their places and driven in with light blows of the hammer.
 4. The template is fixed in the next position with the last button of the first portion through its first hole; the button is not pressed all the way.
 5. The next holes are marked, the template is removed again.
 6. They hammer the last button of the first batch and all but the last button of the second.
 7. Then - again and in the same way until the end of the work.

Brackets-brackets under the shelf also do not have to be curly forged or cast. The shelf can be hung in the same way as for the dressing room rack, see below. Then a hanger bar will be placed under it, the clothes will dry to the desired condition faster and never suffocate even in humid air.

There is a significant nuance in the layout of the wardrobe complex. In many apartments in the hallway there is a storage room. So, it should not be equipped as a dressing room for the sake of simplicity and convenience: the microclimate is completely unsuitable for long-term storage of clothes. A pantry-dressing room should be arranged in any of the living rooms, and away from the balcony.

Structural elements

To properly equip a dressing room, you need to follow certain requirements for some of its components. There are, however, only two of them: doors and shelves. Doors, as already mentioned, should provide air exchange and let some light in, but not let dust in. Ideal option - doors in the form of blinds; these will look quite good in the interior of the colonial style, country or similar. Otherwise, either gaps of at least 2 cm at the top and bottom are needed, or in the same place and in the same place along a series of holes with a diameter of at least 30 mm.

Shelves must provide ventilation, i.e. be perforated or mesh. There are two exceptions: firstly, open-type wardrobes, inscribed in design into the interior. Secondly, a dressing room-pencil case, where the design of the retractable part should provide strength. Ventilation in both cases is also provided with blind shelves.

Special shelves for dressing rooms are commercially available, see fig. above left. But you don't have to spend money on them either. It will be cheaper and more convenient to bend to your size from metal mesh. We need, of course, not a chain-link, but a welded fine-meshed one, see fig. on right. This is available in galvanized, chrome-plated (the most expensive) and PVC-coated - any color and completely rust-free. Trimmings, just suitable for shelves, will gladly be sold at any hardware store on the cheap.

Design

The dressing room is a utility room, aesthetically absolutely subordinate to the general idea of the interior, therefore there is only one requirement for its design: as God puts it on the soul, if only it does not spoil the view. But from this arbitrariness, nevertheless, a consequence follows: the design of the dressing room should organically weave from the general style of the room in which it is located.

That is, when starting a renovation or moving into a new building, the dressing room is designed as a last resort, when everything else is already coordinated. Initially, you only need to allocate space for it. Otherwise, one cannot avoid some dominance of an unambiguously secondary element, and this is an obvious bad taste.

In the pantries

Design issues disappear if you make a dressing room from a pantry. Two questions remain: technology and placement. As far as assembly technology is concerned, the best option- all to the walls on silicone. Nothing needs to be drilled, dusted, but held tightly. If necessary, you can also disassemble it - warm it up properly with a household hair dryer at full power and pry it off with a sharp screwdriver or a mounting knife.

It is better to put the hanger bar not in purchased plastic holders, but in home-made ones, so it will be reliable for years and years. Material - plywood from 10 mm thick; shape - a circle about 10 cm in diameter with a U-shaped neckline. Shelf holders - from the same plywood in the form of strips. Inclined mesh shelves, so as not to move out, can be nailed with small nails to the ends of the plywood; to do this, you need to cut the blanks with a margin for bending the side.

Those who like to tinker more with metal and plastic than with wood can recommend the design shown in fig. She has only two attachment points to the wall; shoe and hat shelves made of mesh are glued with silicone, and the hat shelf is inclined anteriorly so that the bar remains free. From an old Soviet folding bed with a rotten tarpaulin lounger, you can build a dressing room of this type in just an hour. Frames of legs covered with a net (you can use a fishing net) will also add linen shelves.

But here is the accommodation - here the pantry is different from the pantry. "Storage" dressing rooms in block houses, old and new, are usually unimportant: the pantry in them is either too narrow a pencil case, or goes into the hallway, which is bad for the microclimate. Although a dressing room in a pencil case can still be made by placing clothing compartments on two floors, it will be inconvenient to use it, and the kitchen and the hallway are too close. Here, a built-in dressing room in some niche or in the blind end of a narrow long room will be more functional.

Going through the options

However, the best option is a dressing area in the living room. Why? No need to beat the walls, floor and ceiling, buy expensive rails with rollers (remember: the best dressing room is open or compartment) and suffer with installation and adjustment of the entire system. On fig. a diagram of such a "do-it-yourself mini-dressing room" is shown. Of the works required, subject to custom-made sawing of blanks to size - in fact, only assembly on plastic dowels and installation of a mirror on silicone, which can be done in a day. Vertical metal rods in the shirt compartment are not required, you can take a chest of drawers ready and pick up a laminate to match it. In terms of capacity, it will be enough for a young family, especially if the apartment is mortgaged (a sad joke).

More options for small wardrobes are shown in fig. below. The first one on the left can be conditionally called a bachelor's room: it is, in fact, a chiffonier squeezed to the limit without doors. It will include a coat, a jacket, two or three suits, a minimum of light things and underwear, but you can stick it anywhere.

For residents who still care about how their home looks, a miniature corner dressing room is more suitable: its surfaces easily fit into the design, and the contents are not striking. If the door is made of glass matte with a pattern, or the dressing room is glued entirely of glass, as in the beige inset in the figure, then it will even pull on a meaningful piece of furniture.

Fencing off a whole corner under the dressing room, as in a light gray box, is not worth it. Firstly, in terms of capacity: per unit of occupied area it turns out to be one and a half times less than that of a rectangular one. Secondly, in terms of functionality: it is inconvenient to fold the filling of linen shelves into triangles, otherwise the tails will hang. Thirdly, in terms of labor intensity and costs: it is more difficult to cut a triangle, and very wide doors are needed, and without them, things from triangular shelves will slide all the time.

And, finally, aesthetics - a vast plane blocking the corner will draw the eye towards itself, and visually significantly reduce the room. Those who are familiar with the psychophysiology of visual perception are well aware that an extensive tightened angle “presses”.

It is more correct to make a corner dressing room in the form of a parallelepiped with one cut corner. Such a drawing is shown in Fig. in the center. According to visual perception, it no longer sticks out, but rather, as if pressed into a corner. In terms of capacity, it turns out to be equivalent to a triangular one twice as large, if you count along the wall.

Pencil case

Now let's see what a dressing room is. The essence is simple: it is a narrow high rectangular case with a hanger-frame retractable from the side, equipped with shelves. Attempts to create a dressing room in the form of a pencil case have been made for a long time, it has too many advantages, which are discussed below. But everything rested on the guiding mechanism: extended to the limit, or at least halfway, the hanger sagged, warped and jammed. Structures made of rail guides with rollers or pins in pipes at the full exit of the hanger also warped and wedged, and hydraulic cylinders and springs with levers or pantographs turned out to be too complicated and expensive.

Recently, one of the furniture makers implemented in the finished product the idea for a dressing room with a pull-out hanger, free from this drawback. He remembered one of the design commandments: if a knot doesn't work out well, do it the other way around.

Specifically, in this solution, the side ends of the shelves are used as guides, with 2 mm PVC edging, the guide rollers are used in pairs, they are fixed from the inside on the side walls of the case and shifted as far forward as possible, see fig. The fully extended hanger comes back without jamming just from a hand push. Shelves for small items are equipped with low sides made of PVC sheet (not shown in the figure) so that accidentally hanging laundry tails do not fall under the rollers and stop the hanger.

Rollers - the cheapest, not rotary (not self-aligning). When installing on site, the hanger is first assembled, then the rollers are attached to the sides of the case and their height position is checked. Next, the upper and rear walls are attached to the sidewall facing the wall, the hanger slides in and the remaining sidewall is mounted. The assembly is completed by fastening the sidewalls at the bottom in front with a U-shaped galvanized strip 0.4-0.6 mm thick lying on the floor, as shown in the inset at the top right of the figure; it also serves as a stopper that prevents the hanger from rolling out spontaneously.

The options for installing the canister that have been implemented to date are shown in the following fig. Left - in the sleeping niche. The designers give the length of the bed niches in odnushki with a margin, and it turns out a nook-garbage bin. Most often, residents leave it at the head, putting a table or bedside table there with drawers that slide out from the side.

The option is not their best: groping for something with your hand behind your head, knocking over or breaking a vase for a short time, throwing glasses on the floor, etc. But if the gap is left at the foot, the wardrobe-pencil case becomes there “like a native”, and in the production to order, all refinement comes down to changing the width of the shelves, ends and top. With computer-controlled sawing, additional costs compared to the standard series are zero.

In the center is a pencil case in the bedroom of a small apartment. This decision, according to the first customer, is conditionally called "the corner of a lazy coquette". Barely piercing (sorry - rubbing) her eyes and hanging her legs on the floor, she immediately finds herself in front of a dressing table and a mirror glued to the side wall of the pencil case.

On the right - a more serious option, for the nursery. It's all about the organization of lighting. Children's eyes are easily damaged, and for correct vision it is necessary that the light falls obliquely to the left at an angle of about 45 degrees. If the table is pushed into a corner close to the wall, the light will fall too gently. The cabinet in the corner forces the table to be moved almost to the center of the window, and the light is direct, sharp. Leave an empty space in the corner? What will come of this, parents do not need to explain, they themselves were like that. The custom-made pencil case fills just the right width with benefit, and its sidewall facing the table can be decorated or hung there with bookshelves.

At self-manufacturing the work can be even more simplified and cheaper: we generally refuse the sidewall adjacent to the wall, and we attach the rollers intended for it directly to the wall. You do not need to align it: the rollers will not leave their place. The gap between the hanger and the wall will be uneven, but so what? It is not visible, and the structural height of the rollers is at least 4 cm. Such humpbacked walls do not exist in slums either.

In Khrushchev

The demand for secondary "Khrushchev" apartments is steadily growing due to their cheapness, and apartments in brick Khrushchev apartments with ceilings over 3 meters high and walls two bricks in general instantly go away, realtors just lick their lips. Therefore, it is impossible not to touch on the issue of a dressing room in Khrushchev.

In the block relics of the housing boom of the 60s, the prospects, it must be said, are deplorable: everything is so compressed that it is very difficult to find a suitable place for a separate room. A more or less successful way out is found only in projects with a narrow and long hallway. Its branch, which closes with a door to the living room, is suitable for the microclimate, but the width of the corridor is only 1.25 m.

In this case, it is not the dressing room itself that decides the matter, but clothing accessories. Namely, hangers with a swivel hook. Things are hung as shown in the figure; such a suspension does not interfere with their self-healing. If the hat and shoe shelves are inclined, then the depth of the "ultra-compact" dressing room, including the thickness of the compartment doors, can be reduced to 0.4-0.35 m, and the passage remains sufficient.

In brick Khrushchev, difficulties, as a rule, do not arise. There is almost always a closet suitable for a dressing room in a suitable place. The layouts of some common projects are shown in fig. 44/31/5.8 is especially good, the author happened to live in such a dozen years. A small but very cozy apartment, and a large closet perfectly accommodates a wardrobe (highlighted in green), a rack for jars (blue) and a workshop corner (brown).

Guys in secret: should be placed exactly as shown. At the same time, in the workshop you can arrange a secret wine cellar and a secret safe for stash. The missus suddenly plans a "shmon", homemade preparations will immediately appear before her eyes, and in her right side vision, much stronger than her left, her outfits. It will immediately be distracted and sorting out will go completely different from what it was thought up. Immeasurably safer than a box of dirty socks.

In projects 58/42 / 6.2, most likely, but in the one highlighted in Fig. yellow improved 41/27/6.2 for sure, you will have to move the door to another room - the closets are so uncomfortable that at the slightest filling you have to reach for things from the threshold. In the original 41/27/6.2 (lower left) there is no closet at all, but a niche is provided in the hallway. Under the dressing room, it is quite suitable, in that place the microclimate is favorable. Only too small for a compartment device, you will have to make a rack, which is described below.

Just in case: the numbers in the designations of the projects mean the first - the total area; the second is residential; the third is the kitchen area.

Rack

A wardrobe-rack can look quite stylish and aesthetic if things are tastefully selected, neatly arranged / hung and kept clean, see fig. An indispensable condition for such a solution is that the shelves and the frame of the rack should be lost against the background of the contents. Structurally, the dressing-rack is solved simply: the supporting frame is made of perforated profiles attached to the wall, clothes shelves are made of dark laminate (the mesh here will pass through the aesthetics only for shoes) on metal struts. Hanger bars are attached either to the bottom of the shelves or to the struts.

Metal factory fittings for wardrobe racks are quite expensive, but a do-it-yourselfer can avoid unnecessary expenses. At the same time, any pieces of a bar with a diameter of 5-6 mm will go to the struts; perhaps not very smooth and touched by rust. But how can they be simply and cheaply ennobled so that they have a look? And at the same time, securely attach the bars?

The heat-shrinkable tubes (HERE) usually used for electrical insulation will help out. They are made of durable polyisopropylene, available in white, black and all colors of the rainbow. They are seated by heating up to 70-80 degrees with a jet of hot air from a household hair dryer. The diameter of a non-shrink (fresh) tube must be taken twice as large as the diameter of the bar, while the plastic layer will be 2-3 mm with its greatest strength.

The design of shelves for the wardrobe is shown in fig. on right; there is also a way to mount the rods. There are some peculiarities in performance. The fact is that HERE, when shrinking, not only shrink in diameter, but also slide a little along the length. Therefore, we cover the metal with plastic at home in the following way:

 • We put a piece of the tube first on the lower, according to the figure, part of the bracket with a margin in both directions.
 • We seat, evenly warming up with a hair dryer in a circular motion, this will give the greatest strength to the part of the plastic frame, which accounts for the entire weight of the rod with clothes.
 • When cool, cut to size.
 • We put a rod on the bar with holes drilled in advance in the corner stop, exactly parallel to each other.
 • We put on the upper section of the tube, move it with effort to the bar, hold it pressed against it.
 • With a hair dryer, we seat the tube near the bar by 2-5 cm (if only the fingers do not burn), without loosening the pressure.
 • After cooling, we seat the remainder, cut off the top to size.

It remains to decide what to do with the markings on the tube, volts there, amps? It's useless in the dressing room. Here again, the best is the best cheap option- HERE is made in China, uneven thickness in the "fresh" form and with a not very smooth surface. From them, the marking is washed off either with a cotton swab with alcohol, or detergent for dishes, or cleaning powder for stoves on a damp cloth.

The seated tube is very durable, hides the roughness and unevenness of the metal. The weight of the rod with the load holds without problems, but for the “china” it will be nice to drip the connections with superglue after assembly.

What if you just order?

Is it possible to order a dressing room in the apartment? Not everyone knows how to craft and determine the right place? Can. The world's leading brand for wardrobes and household items in general is the Swedish-Dutch company Ikea, whose branches are scattered around the world. In the Russian Federation, they are almost in every regional city and in many more or less large regional centers.

Now you do not need to run from the closet to the corridor, in which there is a full-length mirror, picking up one or another combination of clothes. And the sudden appearance of guests will not take you by surprise because of an untidy apartment, because all things can be distributed in the dressing room. Even in the smallest apartment in terms of area, it is possible to place a compact dressing room in which clothes, shoes, and accessories will be stored.

Thus, the dressing room will place ready-made combinations of clothes, and things laid out in a certain order will save you time on searching and selecting in the future. The urgently needed item will be found in a matter of seconds.

Storage of things can be organized as functional purpose clothes, such as T-shirts and T-shirts on one shelf, jeans and trousers on another, and the distribution of things according to color scheme. By installing a dressing room, you will always be sure that things are neatly hung, they will not wrinkle, they will not lose their impeccable appearance.

Where can you place

It is possible to place a dressing room in a private house, in an apartment and even in a country house. Do not be mistaken that the owners of small-sized housing should give up their own dressing room. The dressing room can be built-in or located in a separate room.

Your attention is presented dressing rooms for every taste and budget.

From the pantry

If you have a pantry in the layout of the apartment, then we recommend using this room in the most useful way. By placing a structure for storing clothes and things, you can use the entire usable area in the best possible way. The dressing room fits perfectly in the size of the pantry. It is enough just to add various shelves, drawers, brackets for hanging outerwear to wardrobes. In the drawers, you can install dividing strips, and place belts, accessories, hats there. Arrange neatly folded clothes on the shelves, as well as arrange shoes arranged according to the seasons.

The dressing room should meet your needs, so the design should be approached after analyzing the number of things. Understanding the total volume of things for storage will help to correctly calculate the required number of shelves.

In the bedroom

If the bedroom is impressive in size and the owner prefers to have a dressing room at arm's length, then the designers are ready to offer the most various options. The dressing room can be with sliding doors, or even have a design without doors. For each customer, an individual dressing room with a unique design is designed.

In the corridor

The best solution for filling the corridor space is to install a dressing room. Now there is no need to purchase cabinets and chests of drawers, which take up free space in the rooms. By installing a dressing room in the corridor, you solve several problems at the same time: freeing up free space in the rooms and organizing the empty space of the corridor. The dressing room can be designed as a corner room, built into the wall, or any other configuration.

From a niche

In order for the interior to be individual, it is enough to use free niches for mounting the wardrobe system. You can draw the attention of others to such a non-standard approach, interesting design, and also make any niche useful and functional.

in the attic

You should not steal a place for a dressing room in the bedrooms of your own cottage, because the attic room does an excellent job of solving this problem. The use of an attic allows rational use of living space for the needs of a modern person.

under the stairs

The space under the stairs is quite roomy, and allows you to place things and clothes. Place a dressing room under the stairs and you will save money on purchasing other storage furniture.

materials

For the manufacture of do-it-yourself dressing room are used various materials. The proposed list of materials will help you make the right choice.

Drywall allows you to make a separate niche in the room, which is further saturated with accessories for convenient storage. Drywall is easy to paint, so the dressing room can be made in the most daring color preferences.

From old furniture it is easy to make a dressing room, original and unique design, with minimum investment money and maximum savings in time for the manufacture of elements.

Chipboard is an affordable and common material for the manufacture of frames, shelves and drawers. It allows you to make a dressing room in various color variations, with a matte or glossy effect of the facing surface.

The Joker system is a base, including various fittings, to saturate wardrobe rooms. Glass and shelf holders, hooks, hangers will make the dressing room functional.

Plywood is a material with high strength properties. Plywood is widely used for the manufacture of partitions and shelves in dressing rooms.

Wood - natural material, which is applicable for creating dressing rooms in children's rooms, cottages, any residential premises where the owners care about the safety and environmental friendliness of the interior.

Chrome pipes allow you to make a mesh dressing room. Pipes are used, the outer diameter of which does not exceed 25 mm. The pipe is easily cut with a hacksaw, and connecting and fixing fittings will help to mount it in the wardrobe. The design, made of chrome-plated pipe, has high performance characteristics.

How to do it right: step by step instructions

Planning

Today, a dressing room for most people is no longer a luxury, but a necessary attribute of a living space. The high rhythm of life suggests the presence a large number clothing that is important to store properly. A well-designed dressing room will create a certain mood in the room, save space in other rooms, and provide convenience and comfort in everyday life.

Before designing a dressing room, you should decide on its location, requirements for design and capacity, and the amount of money that you are willing to spend on manufacturing. You can provide one dressing room for all family members or, on the contrary, allocate separate niches for each. The size of the room will depend on whether you want to complement the storage of clothes with things such as a blanket, pillows, bedding sets. Sports equipment can also be located in the dressing room.

Pre-sort things to calculate the required number of shelves and hangers. It is advisable to draw up several sketches of dressing rooms, and after consulting with all family members, stop choosing one. When designing, take into account a few additional shelves that may be needed later.

When developing a project for a mesh wardrobe, it should be taken into account that the design of the mesh shelf can withstand no more than 60 kg. However, such systems are distinguished by affordability and relative ease of installation.

Mounting

Shelves are installed at a distance of 35 or 40 cm from each other. The depth of the shelves, as a rule, is more than 40 cm. Wide shelves allow you to fold clothes into several piles. Long shelves require additional support to prevent sagging from heavy items. The bars are recommended to be placed at a distance of 100 cm above each other. In the presence of long coats or dresses, the installation of a single-row bar is allowed. Drawers should be mounted using high-quality fittings that can withstand high loads. Drawers located above the chest line are extremely inconvenient. Baskets with heavy items should not be placed higher than their height.

Sliding doors fit into almost any interior and room configuration. Such doors are not only distinguished by their functionality, they will also bring a special design to the interior. Sliding doors are easy to use for children and the elderly. Installation of doors does not require any experience or special skills, it is enough to insert the doors into the rails.

When designing a rack in a dressing room, one should not forget that it is not customary to store linen in them, as well as medicines in open form or transparent containers. You should think in advance what you will place on open racks. Racks differ in a practicality therefore they can be made the most various standard sizes. Determine your needs and act boldly. Racks allow you to save space and compactly store a large amount of various things and clothes when folded.

Lighting and ventilation

It is necessary to pay special attention to the creation of sufficient lighting and the presence of ventilation. The presence of a little natural light does not exclude the need for additional light sources, such as chandeliers, sconces, floor lamps. An important role is played by the light in the area where the mirrors are located. Illumination, located on the floor around the entire perimeter of the room, will increase the lighting on the lower shelves. Ventilation is the main job of providing clean air. It is the ventilated room that guarantees protection from bad smell and the formation of pests. Also, ventilation eliminates the settling of dust on clothes and things.

Arrangement

When enough free space in the dressing room allows, you can install a comfortable chair or sofa. It is worth considering the placement of mirrors, which can be freestanding or mounted to the walls. It would be useful to purchase additional hangers, which, if necessary, will help to place new clothes.

Here are a variety of walk-in closet designs to inspire you to design your own.

 • Here is an example of a dressing room, which is located in the pantry. It should be noted that the room was made according to the requirements of the man. In a certain order, there are shelves for bags, shoes, denim trousers, sweaters and pullovers.
 • This pantry takes on a completely different sound when shelves are designed in it, the size of the entire length of the room. The design of the dressing room is decorated with a relief baguette. Due to limited space, there are no hinged doors in the design, as well as a minimum number of drawers.

 • The design is distinguished by the presence of built-in lamps around the entire perimeter of the room. Spot lighting allows you to effortlessly find the things you need on the topmost shelves. Since the width of the room is sufficient to accommodate various sliding shelves, this dressing room is designed with all sorts of variations of those.

 • The dressing room is made in a minimalist style, with a small number of drawers. For small items and various accessories, wicker baskets with handles are used. Pants are not stored folded on the shelves, but hung on special holders. The design is mounted to the ceiling and floor surface to ensure the stability of the system. Recommended for installation in a small bedroom. The dressing room is an economy class and allows you to make the most of the free space in the bedroom at a low cost. Low cost, convenience, ease of installation - distinctive features without door frame.
