What to do if the sewer well is full. Why is the cesspool filling up quickly? Troubleshooting

Buying a dishwasher is only part of the task, you still need to connect it and put it in the most convenient place. You can, of course, pay money and call the master, but this is not so complicated that you can’t do it yourself. On the other hand, connecting a dishwasher requires at least minimal knowledge of electrics, as well as sewerage and plumbing. If you have at least some idea about these industries, you can try to install a dishwasher with your own hands.

If you choose to connect dishwasher with your own hands, you need to have a clear procedure. Then there will be no surprises. Even before installation, you need to take care of the presence of a separate power line that goes directly from the shield. Connection in tees and carrying is not approved by manufacturers. In this case, the warranty is not supported. The socket must be separate, with a mandatory working ground contact. If there is an outlet, the dishwasher connection procedure is as follows:

If the dishwasher was purchased in the cold season, before plugging it into the network, it must stand in the room for a while. It can and should be unpacked, but it is undesirable to include it in the network. You should start testing after it has warmed up to room temperature and the condensate has dried, which can form during a sharp change in temperature.

Connecting the dishwasher to electricity: electrical line parameters

A dishwasher can consume up to 2.5-3.0 kW of electricity while heating water. Therefore, a separate power line is required to connect it. Since water is used in the process, the technique carries a potential threat, so there must be a circuit breaker on the line, which in the event of a short circuit (short circuit) will turn off the power supply. To ensure your own safety, you need to install an RCD that will break the circuit when the insulation breaks down. That is, connecting a dishwasher to electricity is possible to a dedicated line on which a circuit breaker and an RCD are installed or replacing them.

Ratings of protective devices and cable cross-section

The ratings of the circuit breaker and RCD for connecting the dishwasher are considered depending on the current consumed, but in most cases there are two options:

  1. 16 A circuit breaker and 25 A RCD with a leakage current of 10 mA. In this case, the cross section of the cable cores must be 2.5 mm².
  2. The circuit breaker rating is 10 A, the RCD is 16 A (the leakage current is also 10 mA), the cross section of the cable cores is 1.5 mm².

Both options are possible. The first one is taken with a solid power reserve, the wiring will work at a minimum load, but such a line will cost more. The second option is less expensive financially and it is also more than efficient (the maximum allowable load is 4.1 kW, which is more than enough, since the average power consumption of dishwashers is 2.1-2.5 kW). But, when buying a cable, . Unfortunately, with a declared cross section of 1.5 mm², you can get 1.2 mm² or even less, which is unacceptable in this situation.

More on the parameters of the machine:

  • It is better to choose a bipolar one, so that in case emergency both the phase and zero immediately turned off.
  • For apartments and houses with restored wiring, the breaking capacity of the machine should be C (C10 or C16 is written on the case), for old wiring and air supply, it is better to take B (B10 or B16, depending on the option chosen).

What socket to put for the dishwasher

A few words about sockets. To connect powerful consumers, which is a dishwasher, it is recommended to use power rather than conventional electrical installation products. In this case, you can count on the fact that the socket will not melt even after several years of operation.

Power sockets are chosen not by their appearance, but by the current for which they are designed. For most models of dishwashers, the maximum current consumption will not exceed 11 A, so you can take 10/16 A power outlets. In this case electrical connection dishwasher will be made in accordance with the rules, the manufacturer will have to support its own warranty obligations.

Sewer connection

Connect the drain of the dishwasher preferably to the sewer. It can be done by anyone accessible way. If there is a separate outlet in sewer pipe, the drain hose is lowered there, sealing the junction with a special silicone insert. When buying it, you need to know the diameter of the outlet, the diameter of the drain hose. The insert is simply placed in the outlet socket, the hose is inserted on the other side. None additional measures for sealing the connection is not required, since sealing occurs due to the elasticity of the material.

If there is no separate outlet, the dishwasher drain is led into the sink siphon. For this, there are special siphons with side outlets, into which the dishwasher drain hose is inserted. Since these siphons are modern, the connection is also very simple: the hose is inserted and that's it. For greater reliability, the junction can be additionally sealed with a fum tape, but this is usually not done.

Connecting the dishwasher to the sewer must be done so that the hose sags a little in the form of the letter V. With such an overflow, it is less likely that drains from the sewer will enter the dishwasher. The second option is more reliable, but it is possible with a sufficient supply of a drain hose and free space. In this case, it is lifted above the entrance to the siphon, fixing the loop with a special holder (in the figure below, on the left). Please note that the hose must be positioned so that there are no other loops and creases. In all these places, water stagnates, which then begins to smell strongly. If the hose is too long, it can be shortened.

Sometimes the entrance to the sewer is further than the standard hose allows you to connect. In this case, it is possible to extend the drain hose, but its length must not exceed the maximum allowable distance to the drain, which is indicated in technical specifications. And in general, it is better to choose a place to install the dishwasher so that the hose does not have to be extended. So the pump is guaranteed to work longer.

How to connect to the water supply

To connect the dishwasher to the water supply, any end point is suitable - a tap, faucet, etc. If there is no outlet, you will have to cut the line, insert a tee (or fitting with a tap), to which then connect the dishwasher supply hose.

When connecting the dishwasher to the water supply, the inlet hose is connected to the created outlet. A faucet is installed on the outlet, then a filter (at least coarse mechanical cleaning) and only after that the hose from the dishwasher is connected. The filter is highly desirable. It costs not so much, but can save you from the need for premature repairs. A tap is also needed - so that it is possible, if necessary, to shut off the water supply to the dishwasher, and not turn off the water in the entire apartment or house.

All connections can be wound with fum-tape or, in the old fashioned way, use packing paste and linen winding. Tighten connections better with hands making good efforts. The key in this case is dangerous, as it can be pulled. After the connection of the dishwasher to the water supply is completed, smoothly open the tap, supplying water. If the connections do not get wet, everything is fine, you can carry out test run cars.

Installing the dishwasher

The last step in connecting the dishwasher is installing it in a permanent place. If the machine is freestanding, put it in the chosen place, use the level to set it evenly. Check both vertically and horizontally. For exposure there are legs adjustable in height. By controlling the position with a level, with the help of these legs we correct the position of the body. This procedure must be carried out carefully, since the quality of washing and drying dishes depends on it. With a crookedly exposed machine, water jets do not fall into the places where they should be, which is why the dishwasher washes the dishes worse. Another trouble with the wrong position of the machine is that water will not be completely removed, which will make the dishes dry worse.

When installing a fully built-in dishwasher, it is important to align it correctly. If you ordered a cabinet when you have already chosen a model, it will be made according to the parameters of the case. Usually leave gaps of 5 mm on each side so that it is possible to push the machine. When setting it on a level, it is raised so that it rests on the top of the countertop. To build a dishwasher, it is raised to the desired level using adjustable legs. If the cabinet is too high, lay chipboard on the bottom or under the legs, but there should be no gaps.

After the built-in machine is set in height and level, it can be fixed. In most cases, there are several holes on the sides and on the top of the case. Also included are a couple of brackets. Through the side holes we attach the dishwasher to the side walls of the cabinet. Then we fasten the brackets on one side to the dishwasher body, on the other - to the countertop. Too much attention should not be paid to the choice of fasteners. This fixation is more needed for confidence, since the dishwasher stands without fastening and does not move anywhere.

Questions may arise when installing a fully built-in dishwasher in a cabinet that is too wide. This happens if the unit was bought after the kitchen set was ordered. There are several options for solving the problem. The first is to fasten the slats to the sidewalls - in front and behind, and to fix the body to the slats. The second way is to make false sidewalls from laminated chipboard. The thickness of the chipboard must be selected so that the width of the opening is 10 mm or so greater than the width of the machine. Screw the "secondary" sidewalls to the cabinet frame, and fix the machine body to them. The second method is more expensive in terms of money, but in this case there is no gap in which garbage, dust, etc. accumulate.

Who doesn't dream of a dishwasher? It helps to quickly cope with the kitchen routine, and avoid the standard family dilemma: “who is going to wash the dishes?”. If you are going to buy such an "assistant", you should think about how the dishwasher is installed. Today I will describe in detail the algorithm of these actions so that you can connect the unit with your own hands.

Choosing a location and buying components

One of the most pressing problems for installing kitchen appliances is small-sized kitchens. The dishwasher is no exception, quite the contrary - it requires a little more effort, since it needs both water and electricity to be connected.

Often, when ordering a full kitchen, most projects allocate space for a dishwasher. If there is no such place, then you can organize it yourself by choosing a model suitable for installation on a table or having a universal design.

In this case, you need to consider how to bring the drain system, a set of water and electricity, so calculate the dimensions and all options in advance.

Electrical connection

We all know the elementary safety requirements when working with electrical appliances, and they are entirely subject to the installation of a dishwasher, with some nuances.

First of all, it is necessary to take into account the fact that the device should only be connected to a European socket, because it has a good ground. Standard sockets without grounding are categorically not suitable for installation.

If it is impossible to provide grounding, you can make a neutral connection by connecting the ground wire to the neutral. Are you the owner of "Soviet" sockets? Then contact the professionals to replace them.

They will be able to bring a new, grounded outlet to the required level (25-35 cm above the floor), as well as make an additional one with a tap through the circuit breaker. On the diagram you can see with your own eyes the recommended position of the electrical wiring and the connection of the machine.

Selection of tools

Despite some complexity of installing a dishwasher, we only need two tools: a screwdriver and pliers. You also need to take a skein of any electrical tape, with which you can wrap the thread before tightening.

As a consumable, it is worth buying a waterproofing tape that will provide waterproof connections, its price is small.

But you will need to spend money on the water system, and I recommend buying the following components:

  1. Brass or bronze tee, 3/4" thread. I highly do not advise buying silumin, because it weakly resists crystalline corrosion. Because of this, it can simply disintegrate, forming a serious leak.

  1. Siphon for a drain with two or one union. A double fitting is necessary for those who do not have an automatic washing machine. Two drains can be connected to it at the same time, both a washing machine and a dishwasher. If you do not plan to install a washer in the kitchen, or already have a separate drain for it, buy a siphon with one fitting.

  1. Ball valve. Suitable from any material except silumin.

  1. Coarse water filter. It is not required, but if you want the dishwasher to last a long time, then I recommend that you install it as well.. Poorly treated water can cause serious damage. In foreign countries, there is the same problem, so the filter is one of the important elements.

  1. Additional metal-plastic handle. If the machine is installed far from the sink, and the standard handle does not reach, then we get a new one of the required length.

This completes the list of components, and we move on to the do-it-yourself installation process itself.

Installing an "assistant" in the kitchen

I will describe all the steps in the required sequence. If you follow them, then installing and connecting the dishwasher will not cause you any difficulties.

Drain installation

Despite the simplicity of work, there are several conditions that must be met:

  1. The lower knee should be as deep as possible, and its bend should be shorter. Such a water blockage can be seen in the toilet and in the sink. It is extremely important for the dishwasher, because when the miasma is empty, everything will go into the closed space of the machine.

The desire to put an electric dishwasher in the kitchen is understandable: it saves time, spends a minimum of water, and cleans dishes with greasy stains and dried-on pieces of food with high quality.

Self-installation of a Bosch dishwasher is not fundamentally different from connecting similar technical devices in addition, the installation manual is provided with detailed diagrams. In this article, we will consider the installation procedure for the dishwasher and the features of its connection to communications, providing the material step by step photos and themed videos.

Before buying an assistant in the kitchen, you should evaluate the possibilities of the room and find a place to place a new household appliance. There are desktop and floor models, built-in, built-in and freestanding types of machines, respectively, you can choose the most suitable option. Top Models Bosch brand dishwashers we reviewed in.

You need to completely abandon the purchase only if the kitchen is small-sized, and every centimeter of usable area is already occupied.

Usually the dishwasher is placed in the lower tier of furniture, not far from the sink. The connection point is dictated by the location of sewer and water supply communications. The closer the machine is to the pipes, the less problems with installing and connecting a Bosch dishwasher, regardless of its technical characteristics.

To connect the dishwasher, you need a couple of hours if you have everything you need. If you do not know how to connect a dishwasher with your own hands, then detailed instructions, a list of materials and tools is in front of you.

Dishwasher Connection Tools

You will need:

  1. Sewer siphon for drain connection.
  2. Shut-off ball valve that will shut off the water in front of the dishwasher.
  3. ¾" threaded brass tee fitting for water connection.
  4. The filter for rough cleaning of the given water.
  5. PVC pipe or hose high pressure for drain (if there is no siphon included).
  6. Pliers, screwdriver, tape, waterproofing tape FUM.

It is recommended to install a tee not steel or cast iron (they rust quickly), but bronze or brass, a ball valve - metal-plastic or from the same brass or bronze. So you will ensure long-term maintenance-free operation of components.

Discharged through a siphon into the sewer dirty water, therefore it is better that it be universal - with several fittings so that it can be connected to the drain holes of other household appliances.

The siphon also traps unpleasant odors from the sewer, so don't skimp on it - no matter how much the kit costs, it's important that it works for a long time. Be sure to check the complete set of the siphon so as not to go once again for the missing gasket. The filter for water purification is used the same as in the water meter system.

The procedure for connecting the dishwasher

Dishwashing machines are desktop, built-in (compact) and stationary. Despite the difference in dimensions, the connection of all communications is carried out according to general principle with minor differences.

How to connect a dishwasher of any type - stationary, compact or built-in:

  1. Decide on the place where the dishwasher will be installed. Most often this is a working area next to the kitchen sink.
  2. Choose where you will connect the unit to the mains. It is safer if a separate grounded socket is installed, but this applies mainly to powerful devices.
  3. When installing a separate outlet, choose a wire with a cross section of 2.5 mm 2 and protection in the form of a 16 A machine. The best reliable option is to add a 30 mA RCD (residual current device).
  4. Choose a place to connect to cold water. But you may have a model with DHW connectivity, so you will need to connect the dishwasher to hot water.
  5. Water is connected with a special high pressure hose with a ¾ inch union nut. Therefore, a shut-off valve with a ¾ inch thread must be screwed into the tee.
  6. The dishwasher drain is connected to internal sewerage, and it is better to organize the connection separately through a siphon tee (for example, on a kitchen sink drain).

Now about how to connect the drain of the dishwasher. Draining is the easiest thing to do. To do this, in each kitchen siphon there is a plug at the bottom that needs to be unscrewed, and screw the siphon onto this thread, and the hose for draining dirty water from the dishwasher will already be connected to it.

The standard drain hose is 1.5 meters long and should be enough. The siphon has a built-in valve to delay backflow and odors from the sewer, but one more protective measure can be provided - fix the drain hose so that a small half-ring forms below the siphon. It will be a kind of water valve.

Electrical connection

Not everyone knows how to properly connect the dishwasher to the network. The best option is a separate socket, a separate cable, grounding and separate protection in the form of an RCD and a circuit breaker. But this rule is for powerful units and work for professionals. We want to connect the device ourselves.

So, we connect the dishwasher ourselves. For a kitchen in which a compact machine, such as a Bosch, will be installed, the option of connecting to the nearest outlet is suitable. Moreover, the entire electrical network of the apartment is protected by not one, but two machines on the landing - one before the meter, and one after it.

For a low-power sink, you can buy a grounded socket plug and make an extension cord with your own hands. This grounding connection protects against load on home network, and the fact that all wiring wires are concreted into the walls protects them from overheating.

How to bring water

How to connect a bosch dishwasher or other model to water. The supply of cold water requires a tie-in to the water supply system, and this is not necessarily welding work. Just at the place where the water is connected to the cold tap in the kitchen, a tee is mounted, from which the hose is connected to the dishwasher.

Threaded connections must be sealed with FUM-tape (8-12 turns must be made). For a tight connection, hand effort is enough, without keys. Instead of FUM tape, you can use linen winding, tow or sealant.

Immediately screw the ball valve (valve) onto the tee, and connect a cold water hose to it. If your dishwasher model can be connected to hot water, then the essence of the process does not change - the tee cuts into the hot water supply pipe.

Features of connecting a portable machine

The desktop dishwasher is installed on the countertop, the drain is usually organized by the most in a simple way– Dirty water drains directly into the sink. Water is supplied to the compact dishwasher in the same way as in stationary models, and the power supply is from a regular kitchen electrical outlet.

Standard dimensions of the built-in model: width 450-600 mm, unit depth - 550 mm, height - 820 mm. The built-in model is installed in two versions:

  1. In a designated area in kitchen set(like a washing machine or mini-refrigerator) under the countertop, taking into account the dimensions of the future unit.
  2. As a separate cabinet, decorated to match the kitchen furniture. For this, special facades for dishwashers are sold, from which you can choose the right decor.

Connect the built-in dishwasher to water, sewerage and voltage in the same way as in the stationary version. And which model your dishwasher will belong to: built-in, portable or stationary - it depends only on the size of the kitchen room and your desire.

Features of connecting a stationary machine

You can find out how to connect the dishwasher yourself from the instructions for the appliance. All technological processes described in the instructions are accompanied by pictures and marked to follow the sequence of operations. Often, not everything is clear from the pictures, so use our advice.

The instruction may not contain the specifics of the process, how to connect the dishwasher to the sewer, drain and voltage exactly for your conditions, so you need to proceed from the actual dimensions of the unit and the location of communications. You may need to lengthen the drain hose or buy another siphon.

Checking the operation of the dishwasher

Before the first run, check:

  1. Correct connection to the mains. To do this, simply turn on the machine for a few seconds.
  2. Water supply to the unit and drain. Check all hoses for kinks and all threaded connections- for a leak.
  3. Check the degree of inclination of the drain hose - ideally, water should not stagnate in the hose, unless you yourself have organized a special additional water plug to protect against unpleasant odors from the sewer.

Now, if all is well, close up all technological holes in the walls, if any (may be necessary when laying a cable, drain hose or water supply) and put things in order in the kitchen.

How to install a dishwasher yourself (video)

Tips from the user on how to connect the dishwasher (video) - watch and remember. All connections when connecting drain and water require only manual effort - special keys are not needed for this. A minimum of tools and physical effort - and your dishwasher will start working.

Even a housewife can handle connecting a dishwasher, and there is no need to call a specialist. Just follow the sequence of operations, ensure that all materials and tools are available, and you will succeed.

In contact with

Today, the popularity of dishwashers (hereinafter also referred to as dishwashers, PMM) is growing: more and more people are installing them in their kitchens. But not all owners know how to connect the dishwasher to communications.

Of course, you can call a master who, for a fee, will connect the new equipment to the mains, water supply and sewerage. But owners who have a minimum set of tools and certain skills can connect the dishwasher to the water supply and sewerage on their own. The connection is carried out in several stages, including preparatory. Let's consider them in more detail.

Choice of accommodation

You need to choose the location of the equipment before purchasing the PMM. If you decide to build a dishwasher into kitchen furniture, you need to know the dimensions of the corresponding niche. It can be located under the countertop, cooking panel or under the sink..

The location for the dishwasher must be near the sink already connected to the water supply and sewerage. If the distance to communications exceeds 1.5 meters, the device may experience problems.

Make sure that not far from the PMM is located electric outlet . Since the dishwasher consumes quite a lot of electricity, it is dangerous to use an extension cord to operate the dishwasher, especially if several devices are connected to it.

For a compact dishwasher that can be placed directly on the countertop, the issue of supplying communications is easier to solve, since it can be easily placed as close as possible to the sink. This option is optimal when there is no niche with the required dimensions in the furniture. You can not make a connection to the sewer at all; it is enough to place the drain hose in the sink.

Electricity supply

The main power in the dishwasher is consumed by a tubular electric heater (hereinafter also referred to as a heating element), which heats the water to the desired temperature. During its operation, the PMM consumes from 2 to 3 kW of electricity. You can find out about this from the technical documentation or see this parameter on a sticker located on the machine body (see photo below).

In accordance with these indicators, the socket must withstand a current of at least 16 A. At the same time, it must be located in a place that has free access. There are two placement options: slightly above the furniture worktop (in the case of a built-in PMM) or in an adjacent niche, while the distance to the sink should be at least 0.5 m (due to possible water ingress). One more rule must be observed: the socket should be located no further than 1 m from the dishwasher.

The ideal layout of communications is shown in the figure below, where:

  1. PMM Corps.
  2. Area of connection to the electrical network.
  3. PMM connection site with water supply.
  4. Sewer drain area.

A dedicated line must go to the outlet from the switchboard. If it is not laid, and the apartment has already been renovated, run the wire along the wall and close it decorative box. Wherein appearance the interior is not affected. The same line can be used to connect a washing machine, provided that it does not turn on at the same time as the PMM.

For installation, you need to use a cable with stranded copper conductors (for example, brand VVG-nG-Ls) with a cross section of 2.5 mm 2. A residual current device (hereinafter also referred to as RCD) must be present, along with automata that operate at a current of 16 A. By the way, RCDs and circuit breakers can be replaced with one differential automaton.

The need to install these devices is due to the fact that there is a danger of a short circuit of the electrical network with water and electric shock to people.

Protective device parameters: 25 A, tripping current - 10 mA. You can use an RCD for 16 A and 30 mA of leakage current. The connection is carried out in the same way for PMMs of various trademarks: Bosch, Siemens, Electrolux, Indesit, Whirpool and others.

Instructions for connecting to the water supply

As a rule, flexible hoses from pipes with hot and cold water. That is why the most convenient way to connect the PMM is located in the place where such a hose is connected to the water main. Otherwise, you will have to tie into the pipe using a tee or a manifold with two outlets and taps. When connecting at the junction of a flexible hose with a water supply, a tee with a stopcock must be installed under the sink.

A shut-off valve in the tee is necessary so that you can quickly stop the water supply in the event of an emergency. Since most PMM models only need cold water, one tee will be required.

For work, the following tools and materials should be prepared:

  • a tee with a built-in faucet, made of brass or bronze, with a thread diameter of 3/4 inch (this diameter is suitable in most cases);
  • coarse inlet filter (if this is not included in the dishwasher kit);
  • fluoroplastic sealing tape (FUM-tape);
  • wrenches;
  • sharp knife.

If the kitchen already has washing machine or planned to be installed, the tee should be replaced with a two outlet manifold of the same diameter (3/4") and two stopcocks (see photo above). In addition, some PMM models are equipped with inlet hoses that are too short, a little more than a meter long. If this length is not enough, you will have to buy a new hose in a specialized store.

To properly connect the dishwasher with your own hands to the water supply, the work should be done step by step, in several stages:

  1. Shut off the water supply to the apartment.
  2. Disconnect the flexible hose supplying cold water to the faucet from the water pipe.
  3. Connect the water pipe to the inlet of the tee or splitter, having previously wound the FUM tape on the thread.
  4. Connect the outlet of the tee or manifold to a flexible hose going to the mixer. Don't forget to use fum tape.
  5. Connect the filter and dishwasher inlet hose to one of the side outlets.
  6. If there is a washing machine, connect its inlet hose to the second outlet of the splitter.
  7. Check the tightness of all connections by supplying water to the line.

This completes the connection of the dishwasher to the water.

Sometimes the situation does not allow the installation of PMM near the sink. In this case, you have to crash into a water pipe. If it is made of metal-plastic, there will be no difficulties. It is necessary to cut a piece of pipe and in its place install a tee or manifold with press fittings that provide a reliable connection.

You don’t need to cut a metal pipe - just put a clamp with a branch on top and drill a hole in the pipe through the branch. This connection is also reliable.

Drain to sewer connection

If the dishwasher is installed next to the sink, you should pay attention to the siphon that drains the liquid from the sink into the sewer. If there are no free outlets in it, you must purchase a siphon with one or two additional outlets from the plumbing store (if you also need to connect a washing machine).

The outlets are equipped with conical fittings shaped like an inverted V (see photo). This form is not accidental. The upward bend prevents the spread of odors from the sewer, and also eliminates the reverse flow of liquid from the sewer to the PMM.

There is also the option of direct connection to the pipe through a tee with an oblique outlet (see photo). To organize the upper bend of the drainage hose, a special device is used that can be attached to the wall. To unpleasant odors did not penetrate into the room, a sealing sleeve made of rubber should be installed at the junction of the tee and the drain hose.

Finally, you should check tightness of all connections, connect the dishwasher to the mains and switch it on for the first time. It should be done without dishes. To flush the hopper, use special cleaning tablets or PMM cleaner and disinfectant. Only after the first switching on, the dishwasher can be installed in a furniture niche.

As you can see, you can connect to communications yourself. We hope that our article will help you to do this job.
