Fountain at home. Decorative fountain with your own hands at home. Step-by-step construction of a home fountain

A cool, murmuring fountain on a hot summer day is very invigorating and uplifting. If there is no time or opportunity to get to a real fountain, then a small home fountain is just a salvation! Especially since make a home fountain very simple. My will help you with this Master Class.

For a home fountain, we need:

  • flower pot (without holes in the bottom) with a tray;
  • a small water pump (a pump for pumping water, powered by a mains, is sold in hardware stores or markets, costs 300-600 rubles, mine is 6x4.5 cm in size, 5 cm high);
  • acrylic paints,
  • paints on glass and ceramics,
  • contours,
  • paint in cans;
  • pebbles for an aquarium;
  • plastic plants for the aquarium;
  • decorative lock, again, for the aquarium.

1. Flower pot will serve as a bowl for our fountain handmade . To make it beautiful, it must be embellished, that is, painted.

2. I chose " mosaic". To do this, with a golden outline, I applied arbitrary line cells to the outside of the flower pot.

3. Then I filled the cells with acrylic paints, as well as paints on glass and ceramics (I used everything that was at hand and that does not require firing to dry).

4. I painted over with blue spray paint inner part container and tray. Here you need to be more careful. It is better to wrap the pot with some kind of rag so that small splashes of paint do not end up on the outside of the pot and spoil the drawing.

As an option: you can paint the pot and plate first with spray paint, and then proceed to painting the outside.

5. So, the main thing is done! Here is how the pallet will be installed.

6. There will be a pump for the fountain under the pallet. In order for the water to circulate, small holes must be made in the bottom. holes for stock. In addition, the hose from the water pump will also need to be threaded through the hole in the pan. Since we have a plastic base, it is easy to melt the holes with a hot carnation (heated, for example, on a stove).

7. Now for the details. I lightly painted our water castle with paints on glass and ceramics, and pasted over the circle of the fountain with colored pebbles for the aquarium. Of course, you can come up with a different decor for your handmade fountain!

8. When everything is ready, you can collect the fountain. I passed the water supply tube through the window of the ceramic lock and covered the bottom with aquarium pebbles.

Slightly enlivened the "landscape" with sprigs of artificial algae.

And now he is already quietly murmuring, small, but so cute indoor fountain handmade! :)

Reducing the humidity of the air in the room is a side effect of heating the apartment in the winter. Moreover, excessively dry air not only causes discomfort when breathing, but also causes an increase in the number of colds. The parched mucous membrane of the nasopharynx becomes more susceptible to all kinds of infections and viruses. That is why during the heating season you should think about humidifying the air.
On sale you can find many different devices for humidifying the air: an evaporator, a steam generator, a humidifier, etc. Some owners simply put open dishes with water in the room. As you can see, there are many options, but none of them is suitable for creative people, since our imagination simply cannot put up with such a simple solution. After all, there is an opportunity to make a very useful and most importantly beautiful thing with your own hands. So, after a little thought, we found a way out by offering you, dear readers, to make an indoor fountain. You can install such beauty in any convenient place: on the floor, on the table, on the stand. decorative fountain will become an excellent decoration of the interior and will fit perfectly into any style decision. Moreover, the murmur of the water of the indoor waterfall creates a peaceful environment, conducive to rest and relaxation.
Master class desktop waterfall. Tabletop fountain with your own hands.
To make a craft table waterfall - a fountain, we first need a mini pump for (circulating water in the fountain) raising water from the lower reservoir to the upper reservoir. It is best to use a pump water pump, which you can simply put in the lower tank (reservoir) and pump water up. Unfortunately, we don’t have such pumps for sale, therefore, in this master class, we use a water pump from household appliances, or rather from an electric samovar (photo below).

The reservoir of the lower reservoir is made of plastic bottle from under the oil (5l). Cut off the lower part with a height of 5-8 cm.

As a base, a round cake tray with a diameter of 29-30 cm is used. You can use any shallow plastic dish.
Connecting the pump to the lower reservoir. Using a hot soldering iron, make a hole in the tank of the lower reservoir. The hole should be 0.5mm smaller than the diameter of the pump tube. This is necessary so that the connection to the pump is tight, which will avoid leakage. If it is not possible to tightly connect the pump to the tank, then you can proceed as follows: put a piece of soft hose on the pump tube and thread it into the prepared hole, which will seal the connection (see photo below).

At this step, you can check the operation of our fountain. Also check for any leaks.
The above steps are only necessary if you do not have a pump pump.
Relief production. For the manufacture of the relief, we will use building foam. Cover the entire base with foam to a height of 5-6cm. Wait for the first layer to dry. This will take approximately 3-4 hours and start building up the slide (bottom of the waterfall) (see photo below). Gradually we increase the base of the waterfall by 15-17cm.

After the foam has completely hardened (after 10-12 hours), we proceed to create a waterfall. We glue the bed of the waterfall with pebbles and lay out a small lake at the top. After the formation of the waterfall is completed, we coat the channel well and, especially carefully, the seams between the pebbles with waterproof glue with liquid nails (see photo above).

After the glue dries, we check the operation of our desktop fountain - waterfall. It will not be possible to get a beautiful fall of water right away, therefore, using a gun (hot glue) we form nests 3-4, in which streams of water will form and fall down, see the photo above.
Next, we proceed to the design of the waterfall, to painting our table fountain. Why prepare a special paint.

Pour PVA construction glue diluted with water 1: 1 into a container, add color and sand. Stir and add sand to a creamy consistency. Let's prepare several shades of green and paint our craft, applying each layer after the previous one dries.

The result of painting the decorative fountain in the photo above.
Let's start making the base (pallet) for our craft table waterfall - fountain.

From thick sheet cardboard we cut out a circle with a diameter of 30 cm, and another circle with an inner diameter of 30 cm and an outer diameter of 32 cm, strips 5 and 1.5 centimeters wide. Glue all the details as shown in the photos above.

We install our waterfall on the base and proceed to the final stage.
Between work on the desktop waterfall, I assembled a sequin tree on a stone, photo below

We glue the tree to a pre-prepared place and complete work on the desktop fountain - waterfall, close all the flaws and minor flaws.

Here it is ready original craft. Looking at her, you will never think that you can create such beauty with your own hands and use improvised materials for this. Such an indoor fountain will please everyone. What a great gift idea?!

It would seem that by offering you to make a fountain for your home, we were thinking about humidifying the air in the room, and in the end we not only solved this problem, but also brought a touch of originality and sophistication to your home.

Material taken from ourworldgame.ru

In specialized stores today you can buy very original. The range of such goods is quite large, as they say, for every taste and color. Many people like it when the murmur of a small trickle of water is heard in the house. These sounds allow you to relax and calm down after a hard day's work. However, most consumers do not know what can be done. At the same time, special costs are not required, as well as knowledge.

Construction material

So, below we will describe how to make a fountain at home. To create an original design you will need:

  1. Glue.
  2. A container that will serve as the basis for the fountain.
  3. Approximate scheme of the fountain
  4. Large sink.
  5. A small piece of hose commonly used for cleaning aquariums.
  6. Polyethylene film.
  7. Expanded clay, decorative multi-colored soil and shells of various shapes and sizes.

A large sink will serve as the central detail of the entire composition. A pump and a hose are needed for pumping water, and multi-colored soil, shells and expanded clay are for decoration. In addition, you need a small piece of plastic wrap. So, expanded clay can be purchased at any flower shop. As for the soil black, red, and it is better to use a special mixture for aquariums.

We select the capacity

A home fountain should be strong enough and at the same time beautiful. Therefore, the container for its base should be selected more carefully. The first step in the manufacture of a structure is the selection of a vessel. For the fountain this case you can take a flower pot. If there is no such container, then you can use a flower pot, a beautiful basin, a clay vase, and so on.

The most important thing is that the vessel does not leak. If, for example, there are holes in the flower pot, they should be sealed with epoxy glue.

Choosing a pump

Since everyone can make a fountain at home, you should pay special attention to the pump. After all, not everyone understands them. There are several with a spray tip and a regular one. In this case, the first option is not suitable. First of all, splashes can get outside the main tank. And one more thing - we have a completely different idea.

Therefore, to make a mini-fountain with your own hands, an ordinary pump will be enough. The tip can be made by yourself. In this case, the pump should simply raise the jet up.

First stage

So, how to make a fountain at home at no extra cost? First you need to cut off a small piece of the hose, about 10 centimeters long. After that, you need to put it on the pump tip and see if the hole in it is completely open. It is on this that the power of the jet that will be supplied to the fountain depends. The finished structure should be installed at the bottom of a pre-prepared container.

The home fountain in this case will be with a large sink in the center. This is where the water will come out. Therefore, it is necessary to make a hole in the sink that will fit the hose in size. This can be done with a conventional drill. Of course, the sink should be drilled carefully so that its walls do not crack.

Stage two

The layout of the fountain is quite simple. With its help, everyone will be able to assemble a similar decoration for their interior. When the pump is installed in the tank, expanded clay can be poured, which must be covered with polyethylene from above. A hole for the hose should be made in advance in the film.

Polyethylene is necessary so that expanded clay does not float when wet. After all, water will be poured into the container. After that, multi-colored aquarium soil should be poured onto the film.

Washbasin stand

The composition will not look if the main element is simply set on pebbles. Therefore, you should make a neat stand. So, how to make a fountain at home, which will not only soothe with the pleasant sounds of flowing water, but also be a wonderful addition and highlight of the interior? A beautiful stand can be created from pebbles. They can be held together with epoxy glue. When making the stand, do not forget about the hole for the hose.

Assembling the structure

When the stand is ready, a hose should be passed through it. If it is too long, then it needs to be shortened. Otherwise, you will see where the water is coming from. Now you can install the main element - a large sink. In the previously made hole, stretch the hose just one centimeter.

That's all, it remains to decorate the fountain. To do this, pour some shells around the sink and put the most beautiful pebbles. All this can be purchased at the store - for lovers of aquarium fish or as a gift.

If there is no large sink, then it can also be replaced with any suitable item. The main thing is that you can make a hole for the hose in it. The design of a decorative fountain for a room depends entirely on the imagination of its creator.

The final stage

After the composition is completely folded and all its elements are fixed, it is necessary to pour water into the container. There is no point in completely submerging the soil. So the fountain will lose main idea and your charm. The most important thing is that the pump is completely hidden under water.

Now you can turn on the fountain. To do this, plug the cable from the pump into the outlet.

That's all, the homemade fountain for the room is ready. However, it is worth remembering that the water from it will gradually evaporate, especially in the hot season. Therefore, it will be necessary to add liquid to the decorative fountain at least once a week. More often if necessary.

You can mask the cable from the pump to the outlet. In addition, the indoor fountain can be decorated with artificial flowers. This will give the composition a more effective look.

Finally

Now you know how to make a home fountain. It does not require large expenses and special talents to create it. Enough to turn on the fantasy. It doesn’t take much time to make such compositions, but they will delight you for more than one year.

Decorating the site is a favorite pastime of summer residents and homeowners. Beautiful flower beds, flower beds and even beds are a true decoration. However, nothing is more pleasing to the eye than ponds and ponds, surrounded by beautiful vegetation. And if a stream of water still shoots out of it, then the corner turns into the best place recreation. If you still manage to make not only a fountain with your own hands, but also beautiful lighting, put swings or benches nearby, in the evenings all the inhabitants will gather on this patch.

This fountain is handmade, as is the lighting: waterproof LED light with remote control to change color

Fountain device

To make a fountain in the country does not need very big expenses. Of course, it all depends on the size of the reservoir and how you imagine it. According to the method of construction, fountains are of closed and open type. It's about about the cycle of water use. The closed type uses the same volume of water, driving it in a circle. Open - all the time new. Garden and country fountains are made mainly of a closed type: their device is simpler and more economical. Of course, water has to be topped up and periodically changed - it evaporates and becomes contaminated, but still, the costs are not very high.

When installing an open-type system, you will have to think over the water supply system, its level control, drainage and discharge. You can, of course, use the fountain tank as a container for heating water before watering, and make wiring around the garden from the bowl, but watering is not needed around the clock, and the fountain can work in this mode.

In the very simple version to make a small fountain, you need some sealed container and submersible pump. Any container can be adapted - a special plastic one for a pond, a barrel, old bath, a basin, a cut tire covered with a film, etc. Pumps are a little more difficult.

Fountain pumps

Fountain pumps are sold special, with built-in filters. To make it easier to make a fountain with your own hands, you can buy such models. It is very easy to work with them: put them in a container, fix them so that they do not move, fill them with water, carry out the starting manipulations (described in the instructions) and turn them on.

Fountain pumps come in different capacities, raise the jet to different heights. Often included are interchangeable nozzle nozzles that change the nature of the jet. They are powered by 220 V, there are models powered by solar panels. Made hermetically, so there will be no problems when connecting, step-down transformers are not needed. The only thing that does not interfere is the machine and the RCD on the line to which the pump will be connected. This is just in case, to increase security. The price of the smallest and low-power fountain pump is $25-30. Performance models cost several hundred or more.

You can use any submersible pump for the fountain. But to it you need to buy or make (you can make sand) and a step-down transformer. A security group from an automatic machine and an RCD on the line will not be superfluous here either. This circuit is worth fiddling with if you have an old pump that is in this moment not used.

How to do without a pump

Is it possible to make a fountain without a pump? Yes, but open type. For example, bring a water pipe into the pond - central or. The water coming out under pressure will give a jet of some height. By installing a tip on the pipe, we can change its shape. But with such a construction, it is necessary to figure out where to divert water. You can - back to the well or to the river, to the area for irrigation, etc. Although a pump is present with such an organization, it pumps water into the house, and the fountain is only one of the flow points.

The second option is to put some kind of container at a height, supply water to it, and from there it is fed through pipes to the fountain located below. To create a more or less decent jet height, the container must be raised by 3 meters or more. But the question remains: how to supply water there. Again with the help of a pump, but no longer submersible. They are cheaper, but require a filter. You will also need a pit in which the equipment is installed. A system of pipes connects it with the bowl of the fountain.

In this area, everything has become easier with the advent of LEDs. They are powered by 12V or 24V, which is much safer than the regular mains. There are even solar-powered lamps.

Lighting can be done using waterproof or the same spotlights and lamps. To power them, you need an adapter that converts 220 V to 12 or 24 V, but they are usually sold in the same place as LEDs, so there should be no problems. Installation is simple: spotlights have mounting brackets, the tape can be “shot” from a stapler, only the brackets need to be found larger than the size of the tape: it is unnecessary to punch it so as not to violate the tightness.

There are LEDs that change color. Shades from 8 to several thousand

Schemes of fountains of various configurations and photos of their design

Surely you know that the main component of the fountain is its bowl. In fact, this is the same pond, but having optional equipment- pump. A pond can be made in at least a dozen different ways, and some of them are described in a separate one, because we will not describe how to make a pool bowl. We will pay maximum attention to the organization of fountains and their decor.

small fountain

The device requires a container and a pump. A decoration is put on the tube that comes from the pump. These can be stone slabs in which it is necessary to drill a screw, with a diameter slightly larger than the diameter of the pipe. These plates are strung one on top of the other like a children's pyramid.

Scheme of organizing a decorative fountain for a summer residence

To avoid water overflow, it is necessary to provide a drain system - just below the maximum level, insert a pipe into the container, the second edge of which should be led into the sewer, drainage system or in the garden. You can do it differently: arrange a water collector around the bowl - make a concrete groove or dig in a plastic one. Collected water is also taken somewhere. Usually in closed systems, the problem is not overflow, but a lack of water - it evaporates, but you can play it safe.

Do-it-yourself fountain: photo report 1

And now a photo report of how a do-it-yourself mini-fountain was made according to this scheme. It turned out interesting.

To make this fountain you need:

  • square plastic flowerpot without holes;
  • small fountain pump;
  • plastic pipe 0.7 m long, diameter such that it is put on the pump outlet;
  • a bag of decorative pebbles;
  • three bricks;
  • sawn red granite on slabs.

From tool - drilling machine to drill holes in granite with a diameter slightly larger than the diameter of the pipe.

We install a bowl in the prepared hole, put bricks in it, closer to the edges. They are needed for the stability of the structure and in order to reduce the amount of pebbles. They also serve as a support for the stone structure. Between the installed bricks we put a pump with a tube put on, pour water and check how it works.

Holes were pre-drilled in the slabs in the workshop. They should be located approximately in the center so that the stones do not overturn the structure with their weight.

The first plate rests on the lying bricks, the rest are strung so that the center of gravity does not shift. Having laid the first, we fill the remaining space with pebbles. After the last piece is laid, a mark is made on the pipe. The very last stone is removed, the pipe is cut down just below the mark, then the last fragment is returned to its place. When the water is turned on, it looks like it is running straight out of the stone. Very unusual and easy.

Photo report 2

The next version of a small fountain is made according to the same principle, only a flexible hose is used instead of a pipe, and a snag is used instead of a stone. The effect is just wonderful.

Everything is so clear that there is no need for comments. It differs from the previous design only in the presence of a grid. This is to increase the volume of water: the pan is small.

Until you see it, it's hard to imagine how easy it is to make things of amazing beauty. As for pipes - it is better to use polyethylene pipes - they bend well and are not afraid of ultraviolet radiation.

How to make a fountain out of a tire, see the video report.

Room or desktop

Mini-fountains are made according to the same principle, only pumps use very low-power ones. Suitable even for aquariums, but without aeration. They even work almost inaudibly. We will make a fountain in the Japanese style. In addition to the pump, you will need a small ceramic container for this. In our case, it is oval made of baked clay. A piece of bamboo - about 70 cm long (bought at a flower shop, sold as a support for climbing plants), a bunch of live growing bamboo and some small pebbles. This is what beauty comes from.

First of all, we cut a piece of bamboo into pieces of different lengths. It is hollow inside - these are natural pipes, which, moreover, do not rot for a long time. One of the sides should have an oblique cut, the second - even. Sawing so that the longest piece near the evenly cut end has a “joint”. The lower incision goes about 5 mm below this thickening. It’s just that there is a partition inside, with its help it will be easy to put this segment on the pump outlet. It is difficult to cut, but it was possible to saw through a thin trunk with a metal blade.

We put a small pump in the bowl, put on it the longest piece of bamboo - its length is about 35 cm. On the other hand, we put a bunch of live bamboo, fill the space between them with pebbles.

We tie the remaining two pieces of dry bamboo to our "pipe". You can use hemp rope. That's all, we made a mini-fountain with our own hands. It remains to fill the water and turn on the pump.

By the same principle, other models can be made. Now you understand how and it will be easy to change the design. A few photos for inspiration.

Another type, more traditional and familiar to us, uses almost the same idea and the same tools. Difference in design. You can take a large ceramic or even plastic pot. It is only important that it be without holes for drainage. Then it’s a matter of technique: divide it with a plastic partition into two or three zones, pour more soil into one and plant one of the moisture-loving plants.

The second part will be the reservoir. Only when organizing circulation, multi-stage filtration is necessary: water is very polluted. Therefore, cups made of filter materials with different cells are inserted one after the other - first, a wire or plastic mesh, then a cloth with a different cell, and inside this design is a small pump.

You can make your own hands not only the composition of such a table fountain, but also a pump. How? Watch in the video.

Pebble fountain

A very interesting design at the fountains with pebbles. Their bowl is disguised so that it looks like a dry fountain without a bowl. In fact, there is a bowl, but it is decorated with pebbles, which are laid on a grid that covers the tank.

Dry pebble fountain - device diagram

A certain container is installed in a dug pit. Its volume and dimensions should be quite decent: to collect all the splashes, or at least most of them. A pump is placed in the container, covered with a metal or plastic mesh with a small cell on top. It serves to protect against the ingress of large contaminants into the water, and a thick wire mesh can be laid on top of this fine mesh. This is if you use pebbles. If you will be laying stone slabs, you can use boards or bars.

How to make a "dry" fountain with your own hands

With pebbles, it is probably better to do the opposite: first, lay a grid with a large cell as a base, and on it with a small one. So you don’t have to suffer with the choice of large pebbles, and garbage will not get into the water.

Rockery with a source - this fountain may look like this

If you turn on fantasy, you can come up with very interesting compositions on this basis. For example, one of the options with a garden watering can. If yours is in a classic style, a fountain from a watering can is unlikely to fit well, but in a country style it is very much so.

As you can see, water is collected in the same vessel, hidden under pebbles, and from there it is pumped into a watering can with a small pump.

Near the wall

This is a classic option - a small or large trickle of water runs from the wall, flowing into the bowl. As you may have guessed, there is a pump in the bowl that supplies water through a pipe to the water outlet point. It's simple if you know how. It's just a matter of implementation and decoration.

In order for the pump to float, it is screwed to some kind of heavy plate. At least to the sidewalk, as long as the size fits. The case usually has corresponding mounting holes, but you should pay attention to this when choosing.

If you plan to do something similar near the wall of the house or fence, take care of its waterproofing. Even if the water does not flow down the wall, splashes will fall on it and the humidity will be high. At a minimum, it is necessary to coat several times with a hydrophobic composition. Try to find one that doesn't change the color of the surface too much.

The design style may be different. At the top bowl make a flat surface from which water flows down the wall. The effect is very interesting. It is important that the surface from which the water falls is mirror-smooth and absolutely horizontal.

fountain cascade

Iridescent jets look very interesting. Fountains of this type are called cascades or cascades. With this organization, water is poured from one bowl to another. In the case of a country or garden fountain, you can come up with interesting shapes. For example, a fountain made of buckets, watering cans, kettles and even old garden carts.

The principle of organizing such a cascade is simple: several vessels or bowls fixed one above the other so that a stream of water falls from one to another. Below is the largest tank, and which is the pump. It delivers water through a hose to the uppermost of the vessels.

How to make a fountain bowl

If you need a classic shape - a round, square or oval bowl with a jet of water - the easiest way is to find a suitable plastic tank. They are of different shapes and volumes - from tens of liters to several tons. They are mostly black and blue in color. Although it seems that for our purposes it is better to take blue, keep in mind that pollution is more visible against such a background. So that your fountain does not seem like a swamp, you will have to clean such a bowl often. From this point of view, it is more practical to take black - the water looks the same, but it needs to be washed less often.

The selected tank can either be buried flush with the ground level, or a side can be left. Most often, the sides are decorated with stone or pebbles. Depending on this, choose the depth of the pit. It is dug out in size a little more than a bowl.

When the required depth is reached, all stones, roots, snags are removed, the bottom is leveled, rammed, sand is poured, with a layer of about 10 cm. It is well leveled and spilled so that it is compacted. Put a bowl on the prepared base, fill it with water. Sand or soil is poured into the gap between the walls of the bowl and the pit. Sand - if the soil is clayey, and the soil - if it drains normally. Having fallen asleep a small layer, it is compacted - carefully, with a pole or a deck, falling into the gap to be filled. But no matter how well you compact, be prepared for the fact that in a couple of weeks you will have to add more: the soil will sit down a few centimeters.

You can do without a plastic bowl. There are two other options: make the tank out of cast-in-situ concrete. In this case, you can make a fountain with sides. The process is long and costly, and even waterproofing needs to be taken care of.

Most cheap option- dig a pit and lay it out with a film. In principle, any high-density polyethylene will do, but it will last a year, maybe two. Then she starts to let the water through. Special films for pools are more reliable in this regard, but they cost decent money, but they can be used for years. The manufacturing technology of such a bowl for the fountain is captured in the photo.

The first stage is digging a pit and leveling the walls. After the required shape and dimensions are reached, the horizontal platforms are leveled and covered with a layer of sand. It will protect the film from possible damage.

We lay the film in the finished pit. Inside, it should lie without tension, freely. Its edges are covered with soil, pressed with boulders. To prevent the germination of plant roots through the film, it is not advisable to spread it under. This non-woven fabric is very tear-resistant. It is used when laying roads so that the soil is not crushed and trees do not sprout. So she protect the fountain without difficulty.

Boulders are laid out on the laid out film. If the pit is stepped, boulders should lie on each step. When the design of the bowl is almost completed, the pump is placed. The bowl is filled with water and tested - and the bowl for tightness and pump performance.

Don't let the initial costs scare you. I have found from personal experience that ABSOLUTELY ALL ways of home business without initial costs do not bring the desired income and satisfaction from the (sometimes just HUGE) work done. Therefore, I suggest you do a very interesting job. The essence of the idea is simple: the production of decorative indoor fountains. At low cost, amazing results are obtained.

The system of any decorative indoor fountain is a cycle in which water rises up with the help of a pump and then flows down the stone into a container. Thus, we are talking about a closed system in which the used water is gradually renewed, since the initial supply of water is no longer enough by a certain time.

The pump is usually powered by a set of batteries or a power supply or both. Usually, for decorative indoor fountains, pumps powered by 3 to 9 volts are used. The higher the power, the greater the power of the pump, which allows you to lift more water up, and this, in turn, affects the location of the pipes through which the water flows. You can make a very tricky labyrinth of tubes, from which water will flow in different directions and with different strengths and, believe me, it looks very, very beautiful!

Now let's talk about the design

The basis of any decorative room fountain can be any. While shopping, pay attention to all kinds of bowls with lids. Your fountain will depend on the chosen diameter of the bowl. The lid should either fit over the bowl or be very tight to the bowl so that it is difficult to tear off. But even if the lid doesn't fit very snugly on the bowl, you can drop glue in three or four places and the problem is solved.

Usually, the lid is first drawn up, so to speak, the whole appearance of your fountain. Depending on your idea, a hole is drilled in a certain place on the lid and a tube is inserted into it. At the beginning, it is desirable that it reaches the bottom of the bowl from below, and from above it is 5-10 centimeters higher than the calculated size of the fountain. Even if you don’t need these tolerances, you will always have time to cut off unnecessary ends, but it’s better to have them just in case. In the role of tubes, any kind of tubes, cambric and pipes are suitable. And it doesn’t matter what they are made of: let it be aluminum tubes or flexible PVC tubes, for example, from droppers.

Next, a base is made around the tube to create appearance. Most often, a mixture of cement and pebbles is used. With cement, everything is clear, but I’ll tell you about the pebbles separately. Wherever you are (in the city, in the country, in the forest, at the sea, etc.), always pay attention to the pebbles. The more non-standard and bizarre the shape, the more unexpected its color, the better! And in general, try to notice all sorts of non-standard things (pebbles, twigs, roots, etc.) in order to use all these materials for the production of fountains in the future. When creating the base, simply throw cement on the lid and, while it has not hardened, sprinkle pebbles into it, immediately forming the landscape of the future fountain. Don't forget that the water needs to get inside the bowl and flow through the landscape. Therefore, try to make some kind of depression at the bottom of your landscape so that water collects there and immediately drill a hole there (but a small one, otherwise the water will immediately flow into the bowl. And it is much better when the water remains in the depression for a short time. It turns out a small lake) . If you do not get along with cement, then you can use all kinds of adhesives, sealants, polymer compounds, epoxy resins. Our task is to create a landscape from natural material, fastening it together and with the base. The fastening material must be moisture resistant so that the artistic composition does not fall apart.

You can also use various hi-tech tricks. Forged landscapes, bronze, metal, plastic or glass.

You can produce complex textures and geometric patterns using a 3D printer. Then your fountains will have no competition at all.

If you do not consider yourself an unrecognized artist or sculptor, it does not matter. Sometimes a masterpiece is obtained from just a pile of pebbles. Add absolutely any materials (usually they are just glued to the landscape), but do not forget that water is a very patient cutter. Therefore, it is desirable to use materials that do not decompose with water. Otherwise it will bad smell rotten water. But even with organic materials there are very interesting cases. For example, when I wanted to plant a real swamp moss on the fountain, then quite unexpectedly it began to become covered with white mold. But the most interesting thing is that there was no smell! The mold itself is a penicillin, and most likely it even helped filter the water. But it turned out very nice. The fountain has turned into a real living organism that does not age, because. swamp moss can live for centuries without growing in volume.

After external design You just have to connect the pump to the supply tube and connect it to power. ALL!

After you try to make 3-4 fountains, try adding light to the landscape elements. I recommend using LEDs. First, you can choose the colors of the LEDs you want to highlight some specific parts of your landscape. Secondly, at the moment LEDs are sold with different light power, flashing, with a damped pulsation, etc., which will also help you a lot when decorating the landscape. Thirdly, they are almost eternal, do not burn out and are not afraid of contact with water.

Dame one more smart advice. It is desirable to add a pair of relay contacts to the receiving container at a certain level (it is set experimentally) so that the water closes them and when the water level drops below the specified rate, the electrical circuit breaks so as not to drive the pump without water. But here there are two options. The first and easiest is to turn off the power to the pump.

But, as practice has shown, very few people read the instructions for using a decorative indoor fountain, which says that when the fountain stops working, you first need to add water. Therefore, I had to slightly improve the fountain and add a circuit to it, which, when the contacts are opened, lights up a flashing “Add water” sign below and emits an intermittent low signal. At the same time, safety precautions are observed, since the power supply of the pump and the circuit ranges from 3 to 12 volts and will not affect the touch of water with your hands.

That's all! Then turn on your imagination and create! For example, when I made a lot of landscape-type fountains, I started making fountains in the form of water mills, adding various moving figures to them. It turns out great!

The essence of business

All this is usually sold in the city market, or through social media. There is always a crowd in the market near my trading place. Fountains typically sell for between $50 and $150. But some copies left me and at a price of $ 300.

Some clients themselves later approached me and asked me to make a custom-made fountain, taking into account their personal wishes. Naturally, the price in this case was automatically increased by 50%. You can also walk around the offices and offer them decorative fountains. A lot of people are willing to take it. Only it is necessary to make fountains for offices a little more massive and larger in size. For example, for one office, I made a fountain 150 cm high, and it occupied a square 100 × 100 cm wide.

The profit arithmetic here is very simple, so you yourself can calculate the profit at the cost. If a copy is not sold for a long time, then I lower the price on it and they immediately buy it.

Even the smallest fountain is capable of transforming the landscape of a summer house or a private house beyond recognition. This decorative building will definitely become your favorite recreational area on your site, because it will give you the opportunity to unite with nature at any moment. Would you like it to become a reality sooner? There is nothing super complicated here - everyone can make a fountain with their own hands. Don't believe? Then to your attention step-by-step instruction with a photo, following which you can quickly and without the involvement of professionals get a spectacular and functional fountain.

First of all, you need to choose suitable option fountain for your site. We are talking about its dimensions, shape and materials. When solving this issue, be guided by the area and style of the courtyard of your summer house or private house.

So, for a large area, it is better to choose a classic sculptural model, which will become the center of the landscape composition. And for a modest courtyard, fountains in the form of small architectural forms are suitable: sea shells, fairy-tale heroes, houses, pots and other similar figures.

Original fountain from improvised materials

But it is not necessary to buy a ready-made sculpture, because you can also build a fountain with your own hands. The simplest option is the construction of stones. To make it, lay large flat stones on top of each other, make holes in each of them with an electric drill and string all the resulting products on copper pipe- it is through it that water will flow to the top of the structure. Then close the gaps with small pebbles and treat the cracks silicone sealant.

Choose a location

The next step is to decide where exactly on the site the fountain will be located. In order for the structure to fully fulfill its aesthetic function, it cannot be installed “anywhere” - it is important to choose the best location. And for this you need to take into account several nuances.

  1. Firstly, the fountain does not have a place in a too open area, since under the influence of active sunlight, the water can begin to “bloom”.
  2. Secondly, the fountain cannot be placed among powerful trees - their roots can provoke deformation of the reservoir and waterproofing. In addition, leaves, fluff, fruits and seeds of trees will constantly pollute the fountain.
  3. Thirdly, the structure should not be too close to the house, otherwise moisture with the wind will fall on its walls.
  4. Fourthly, it is undesirable to stir the fountain in the open wind so that its gusts do not “tear off” the jets.

Position the fountain so that it can be seen from different parts site

Thus, the ideal location for a decorative fountain is a light penumbra surrounded by flowers and low bushes.

When you choose a place, proceed directly to the arrangement of the fountain. It involves the phased implementation of three main groups of work:

  • tank preparation;
  • pump installation;
  • installation and decoration of the fountain.

Preparing the tank

In order for the fountain to be durable and solid, it is necessary to equip a special reservoir for hydraulic equipment and water. This is done as follows:

  • Dig a pit of a pre-calculated depth and the diameter you need.

Important! The depth level of the tank must be below the ground level so that the soil around the fountain bowl does not wash away and the base does not deform.

  • Pour a thin layer of sand on the bottom of the resulting pit and carefully reinforce its side walls with bricks.
  • Cover the inner surface of the pit with a dense plastic film - it will prevent the passage of water.
  • Fix the film along the top edge of the tank and seal the seams with frost-resistant silicone sealant. Pour stones at the bottom of the pit, distributing them over the surface of the film. Stones should not be sharp so as not to deform the film.
  • Install a small emergency drain near the pit in order to prevent the water level in the tank from rising.

Fountain construction

Installing the pump

The fountain will not be able to work without the most important mechanism - the pump. It is he who is responsible for the continuous movement of the water flow. General principle The operation of the pump is simple: water is ejected through the nozzle into the tank, then it enters the pipeline, where it undergoes coarse and fine cleaning, and then the already purified water is sent back to the nozzle.

The quality of the functioning of the fountain directly depends on the type of pump:

  • Submersible - works on the principle of a centrifuge and is located in the center of the fountain tank under water. This is a cheap, but reliable device, for the installation of which no fasteners are needed - the submerged pump is quite heavy, so it does not budge. It is suitable for small weak fountains.

Diagram: fountain pump operation
  • Surface - a more serious type of pump, which is not installed inside the tank, but on its edge on the surface of the earth. Such a device is designed for large fountains with a complex design.

Pipeline for pumping system can be constructed from plastic pipes. Their optimal diameter is 16 mm.

Advice. In order to enhance the operation of the pump, additionally install a pressure tank - it will guarantee a constant pressure of the water flow.

Fountain decoration

After the main functional elements are installed, you need to take care of the installation of the fountain itself, or rather its upper part. If you are using ready-made sculptures, then they must be provided with special fasteners for installation. But a home-made stone fountain is best installed on metal slats, previously laid on top of the tank.

Then proceed to decorate the design. The fountain can be decorated with plants, stones of various sizes, clay figurines, microsculptures and any other details that seem appropriate to you on your site.

You can decorate the fountain with stones, sculptures and plants

Do not forget about such a spectacular decor tool as lighting. It can be underwater lamps, light strips, floating lanterns, ground lamps - here you are also unlimited. But remember that lighting structures must be completely sealed, and all their contacts must be protected from water as reliably as possible, otherwise it will be unsafe to use them.

When all work is completed, fill the tank with water and start the fountain.

As you can see, to make a beautiful fountain with your own hands, you do not need to work hard and spend a lot of money. Do not deviate from the instructions, use high-quality materials and do not be afraid to experiment with decor - by following these three simple rules, you will definitely get a functional fountain that will delight your eyes and tune in a positive way for many years.
